The Women’s Euros 2022 are just around the corner and following another spectacular season of English domestic football—which came on the back of impressive international performances in Euro 2020!—here’s hoping we are in for more of the same. Now, of course going to the game is not always possible; however, there is no cause for concern as Hull is chock-full of places to indulge in the next best thing: watching it on a big screen with those nearest and dearest. This article presents list of my favourite bars and pubs to enjoy the Women’s Euros this summer.

Firepit Smokehouse & Sports Bar

Flemingate, Beverley, HU17 0NZ

A favourite of mine, Firepit is a modern sports bar with a generous helping of screens all over the joint. Interestingly, there is a ‘video wall’ where customers can enjoy the game in oversized glory from the comfort of couches placed, ideally, in front of the screen. However, beware, as you have to book early in order to bag one. What is more, the food here is excellent and a great selection of drinks is available.

Tribal Bar & Grill

Kingswood Leisure Park, Kingswood, Hull, HU7 3DB

This is a modern sports bar which is my usual ‘go-to’ to watch the match, particularly as it’s the closest one to me. Like most modern bars today, it’s spacious, vibrant, and more comfortable than most pubs. It has several screens around the place including a huge video wall and an excellent sound system. The food is very, very good too and there’s a good selection of drinks and prices are pretty reasonable.

Village Hotel Pub & Grill

Henry Boot Way, Hull, HU4 7DY

I haven’t experienced this one myself yet, but it looks fantastic! The Village Hotel’s Pub & Grill had a refurb last year and installed a huge 75″ TV with theatre-style seating so you can get a great view of the match. There are plenty more screens around the place, all nice and big too, so you definitely won’t miss a minute (even if you have to pop up to the bar for more drinks). I have tried the food here and it was fantastic. There’s a great selection of drinks but it’s worth a visit for the big screen alone!

Sutton Fields

Oslo Road, Hull, HU7 0YN

Since its refurb a year or two ago, Sutton Fields has become a great place to watch the football. There’s no huge screen like the others, but there are 10 HD screens positioned all over the pub, so you can get a good view wherever you’re sat. Drinks are well-priced and food looks good (but not yet tasted). There are two new pool tables as well for half-time games with your mates.

Whistling Goose

Amsterdam Road, Sutton Fields, Hull, HU7 0XF

Whistling Goose is another pub that’s recently had a facelift. I used to watch the football here fairly regularly before it happened, but the refit has introduced much nicer seating that is more spacious and open plan. Just across the way from Sutton Fields, it has plenty of parking and there are large HD screens dotted everywhere throughout so there aren’t many places you wouldn’t get a decent view of the match. Although personally I’d recommend going for the biggest screen they have in the north side of the pub (to the left as you walk through the main entrance). I can highly recommend the food, particularly if you like a steakhouse grill menu. Drinks are reasonably priced too. Overall a great place to chill and watch the football.

The Hayride

Grange Way, Beverley, HU17 9GP

Part of the same chain as Whistling Goose, The Hayride in Beverley is a bit of a hidden gem that I discovered in September last year after Firepit in Flemingate was rammed for a big match. Like The Whistling Goose, this is another spacious pub with plenty of big screens so wherever you sit you’ll have a great view of the match. Drinks and food are well priced; easy to order from your table using the app. Like Whistling Goose, it’s a steakhouse grill menu (I can highly recommend the steaks). They’re also dog friendly and there’s plenty of parking at the back.

Sharkeys

124 George Street, Hull, HU1 3AA

The recently re-opened and iconic Sharkeys is almost a tailor-made venue for the Women’s Euros courtesy of its separate sports bar section. Additionally, there is a principal area in which food and cocktails can be enjoyed against the backdrop of music performed on the main stage.

We recently checked out the food at Sharkeys as part of our Hull Eats series which you can view here >>

Oscars Bar

21 Silver Street, Hull, HU1 1JG

In Oscars, customers can enjoy a cocktail ‘masterclass’ alongside a wide range of beers, wines, and spirits whilst enjoying the game on any of their seven 50” LED televisions. Additionally, live music is on offer every Friday.

Yates

1-4 Trinity House Lane, Hull, HU1 2JD

A much-loved classic, Yates will be showing every game of the Women’s Euros this summer. This can be enjoyed alongside the tasty food and appetising drinks on offer at affordable prices. Now, it might be a good idea to book your seat in advance of attendance to avoid disappointment; indeed, an option to do so is available via the Yates website.

Kick’s

76 Paragon Street, Hull, HU1 3PW

Keep your eyes peeled for Kick’s, Hull’s newest luxury sports bar and grill, which will be open just in time for the final on July 31st. Designed to cater to all the family, Kick’s will offer fourteen television screens alongside a huge ‘video-wall’ where you can the football spectacular in all its glory. Additionally, Kick’s shall offer a delectable American-inspired food menu featuring smashed burgers; street tacos; steak; fajitas; and hot dogs alongside a drinks list that is intended to boast the best beers and cocktails made by their mixologists.
