Enjoy a meal out

There are few things in life quite as satisfying as a good bargain, especially if it comes from some of the local area’s finest eateries and establishments. February is proving to be a bitter and dreary month so far, so one of the best ways you can make the most of the poor weather is to go out and dine in some of Hull and East Yorkshire’s most impressive restaurants and cafes.

First Floor Terrace, St Stephens, Ferensway, Hull

Probably one of the most popular new activities in hull, Lost City Adventure Golf is a fantastic adventure golf course in St Stephens that is perfect for the entire family. The two courses, Skull River and Cobra Canyon, are 18-holes and have an assortment of props and corners to challenge you. Lost City is a fantastic, low cost day out which the kids will love.

Cinema

Think back 15 years, and there wasn’t a lot of choice for cinemas in our area. But Hull now has four really good cinemas across the city, with another good one in Beverley.

Odeon Luxe is a great offering for those who want the luxury experience with it’s iSense screens, reclining leather chairs. If you’re in the city centre there are low price offerings from both Vue (at £4.99) and Reel (£2.50 before 1pm/£3.50).

And over at Kingswood is the brand spanking new Cineworld fit with new 4DX and ScreenX experiences. They also have the largest cinema screen in Hull (official!) known as Superscreen. Take a look what’s showing and share some movie magic with the little ones this half-term.

East Riding Libraries

East Riding Libraries will be offering half term fun this February with Storytime and Bounce and Rhyme Sessions for young visitors.

There will be a chance to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week with special story-time sessions, ‘The Dot’. Participants can find out what happens when someone shows they believe in you, with a lovely heart-warming story and fun activities as well.

For younger library visitors, there will be a special Bounce and Rhyme Story-time, ‘Calmer Llama’. This will be an opportunity to find some great tips for children to manage their emotions in this lovely story, and to take part in some fun activities as well.

Sewerby Hall & Gardens

Families looking for exciting and interesting things to do this February half term should look no further than Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

The grounds are open daily, and entry is free. The zoo and the Clock Tower Cafe will be open daily, as will the house itself from 19 to 27 February, including the new exhibition, ‘The Art of the Menu’.

Visitors to the grounds and gardens can download the free Love Exploring app to their mobile devices and enjoy a dinosaur safari. The grounds look stunning at this time of the year, with thousands of winter bulbs now in flower.

Beverley Minster

A host of fun activities for the family are on offer at Beverley Minster during the half-term holiday.

Youngsters are being encouraged to make their way around the minster on the Sanctuary Trail, a specially designed route around the historic building where they can find answers to questions and complete puzzles as they explore.

Sanctuary Trail booklets for them to fill in with their answers can be collected from the welcome desk at the minster. Those completing the booklet will be rewarded with a sticker.

The event is free, mainly aimed at children of primary school age, and is available between 10am to 4pm, from Monday 21 to Friday 25 February.

The Deep

Probably Hull’s most famous attraction; The Deep is a wonderful place to go with friends and family to have fun and enjoy the marine life.

It’s home to 5000 animals, including sharks and over 3500 fish! Not only will this be a fun and educational visit, but The Deep also prides itself on its conservation, which will protect the future of the ocean.

If you haven’t already, we highly recommend doing your ticket through gift aid when you arrive… for the price of a normal one-day ticket, it changes it into an annual pass, so you can keep going back during every school holiday, after-school and weekends for the next 12 months – awesome!

Rock Up

Inside St Stephens – second floor terrace

Another one of Hull’s classic half term destinations is Rock Up, a place where the family can enjoy being active together. They have twenty-six different climbing frames that are suitable for all ages and experience, as well as a soft play and space to watch, if you’d rather keep your feet on the ground.

You can book online in advance and save £1, or pay in person. They have different sessions that might be more suitable for you, such as a toddlers session or a SEN and autism friendly session.

Hull’s Museum Quarter

High Street, Hull Old Town

Hull’s museums are a fantastic place to keep your little one entertained this half-term, and the city centre’s museum quarter is a great place to start. Consisting of Wilberforce House, the Hull and East Riding Museum, Streetlife and the Arctic Corsair trawler, there’s plenty of Hull history for you and the family to see in one place.

Jump Inc

Flemingate, Beverley

Located in Flemingate, Beverley, Jump Inc is 20,000 square feet of inflatable playground. It is fun for all ages. You will be bouncing of the walls with the double decker section, wavy slides, the biggest ball pool in the UK, so much more!

Bowling

Hollywood Bowl at Kingswood Leisure Park is a great place to go and have fun this half term. Not only does it have 26 bowling lanes, but there’s also an American themed diner full of tasty things to eat and drink, a fantastic amusements arcade are with all sorts of games and prizes and a bar for the adults.

There is also Superbowl UK in Hull. It has 12 lanes, some marked VIP for privacy, and the latest scoring system to keep the experience exciting. It also has lots of arcade games and pool tables so that you can enjoy all kinds of activities indoors.

You can book online here, which also gives you the option to book for Superbowl’s Laser Quest or soft play Crazy Club if you wanted to add more activities to your visit.
