Hull & East Yorkshire’s restaurant scene has been booming in the past decade. With the pandemic this year, it didn’t seem likely that any new food businesses would be opening up, but thankfully I’m wrong. I’ve discovered four new places that have just opened and that I think you’ll want to give a try this month.

New Lounge

58 – 62 Newland Ave, Hull HU5 3AE

Open Mon – Sun, 9:30am – 11:30pm

New Lounge is a stylish new bar and restaurant on Newland Avenue which opened just last week. The new place which occupies the former La Strada Italian restaurant (which sadly closed during lockdown), offers a range of Mediterranean meals, guilty treats and delicious cocktails. The new owners have confirmed they’ll mainly be serving coffee & cake in the morning before the main menu kicks in from 12pm until 9pm.

42nd East Bakehouse

St Marys Court, Beverley

Open Mon – Sun, 9am – 6pm

A fabulous New York-style bakery with some incredible treats, 42nd East Bakehouse opened a new Beverley store on 27 August. They sell a range of delights including cookies, brownies, puddings, dessert pies, cookie burritos and more. You can also make orders on their website.

Cassiel Bar and Kitchen

155 Hallgate, Cottingham HU16 4BB

Open Mon – Sun, 11:00am – 10:30pm

Opened by two brothers, Chris and Simon Leahy, Cassiel Bar and Kitchen is a stylish restaurant and bar, in Cottingham, specialising in Mediterranean food including fish, grills, tapas and pasta. They have a great selection of wines, gins, ales, premium lager and cider too.

Tiffany’s

Corner of Lowgate & Bowlalley Lane, Hull HU1 1XW

This new luxurious Hull bar, opened on bank holiday Monday and aims to “rival Manchester and Leeds” with its tasteful decor and sophisticated feel. It was formerly Barracuda, but underwent a £500,000 transformation during lockdown, by Darren Kaye who also owns Tofts on Newland Ave. They boast a glorious selection of cocktails that taste superb and pack quite a punch… apparently ?

Go check ’em out and let us know in the comments what you think.
