This July, there are some amazing new releases coming to the big screen, and thanks to Cineworld Cinema Hull in Kingswood, you can win a trip to see any film you want for you and your friends.

From a superhero epic to fun-filled family adventures, all bases are covered with these cinema releases in July 2022. So scroll down to find out what’s on and find how to win tickets.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Released 1 July 2022

Gru’s chaotic and amusing pill-shaped companions have already powered their way through three Despicable Me blockbusters and an equally successful Minions solo project. They’re now back to create more hilarious havoc in a story that takes us back to the origins of Steve Carell’s vowel-mangling supervillain. Definitely a film release to put on the To-Do list

Thor: Love and Thunder

Released 8 July 2022

At the outset of the latest Thor movie, directed by Taika Waititi, the title character is anything but mighty. And this is seemingly by choice – Thor is no longer interested in propagating his powers and, as mentioned, leadership details now fall to Valkyrie.

However, the arrival of the fearsome Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) forces Thor’s hand, which leads to the movie’s most progressive development. In her first proper appearance since Thor: The Dark World, Jane Foster is now revealed as the new Thor incumbent aka the Mighty Thor.

Mjolnir in hand, she forces our title character to confront his place in the world. This ensues with plenty of signature Waititi eccentricities, some huge laughs and a rockingly retro 1980s-flavoured soundtrack.

Nope

Released 22 July 2022

“What’s a bad miracle?” Oscar winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror film release with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.

The film reunites Peele with Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

Nope, which co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), is written and directed by Jordan Peele and is produced by Ian Cooper (Us, Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions.

Where the Crawdads Sing

Released 22 July 2022

Delia Owens’ book Where the Crawdads Sing was a publishing sensation upon the film release, and it’s sold 4.5 million copies to date. It’s therefore little surprise that the upcoming movie adaptation is feverishly anticipated, promising to do justice to the novel’s steamy, swampy Deep South atmosphere and tender coming-of-age themes.

Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones takes on the pivotal role of Kya. An isolated ‘marsh girl’, Kya has carved out a self-sufficient lifestyle in the atmospheric wilderness of North Carolina. With her parents now absent, Kya is also regarded with derision and suspicion by her local community.

The story traces Kya’s growth to maturity, her love of wildlife and the complex struggle that arises when she finds herself caught between two very different men. When one of them turns up dead, suspicion immediately falls on Kya, who wants nothing more than to live in harmony with nature including the eponymous crawdads (a local slang term for crayfish).

DC League of Super-Pets

Released 29 July 2022

Forget Superman and Batman – DC League of Super-Pets showcases their adorably loyal canine pals, Krypto and Ace. When the two DC figureheads and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped by the nefarious Lex Luthor, there are only two heroes who can save the day – and each has four legs and a tail. Dwayne Johnson voices Krypto and Kevin Hart voices Ace with the sublime cast also including Keanu Reeves as Batman and John Krasinski as Superman. Don’t miss out on this fantastic family movie’s film release!
