5 New Places to Eat in Hull Spring 2021

Outdoor dining has been back for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been absolutely amazing to get back out there and eat at some of my favourite Hull restaurants.

The next milestone on the government’s ‘roadmap out of lockdown’ is Step 3 which will come on/or after 17th of March. With Step 3 comes indoor dining, meaning more Hull restaurants will be able to open.

We’ve rounded up some of Hull’s newest eateries that you might not have checked out yet, so you can get booked in this Spring.

Ponto Lounge

2-4 King Edward St, Hull HU1 3SS

Ponto Lounge opened back in September 2020 after being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and now is serving up a retro feel to the people of Hull.

Their menu is absolutely massive, from zingy salads to massive burgers with all the trimmings, everyone at the table will be happy. Ponto Lounge prides itself for working on new exciting dishes, but also being able to serve up some British classics along the way.

Ponto Lounge also has pretty exciting vegan and gluten free menus. So good in fact, that their menu won ‘Best Vegan Menu’ and their Chocolate Torte won ‘Best Dessert’ at the PETA vegan food awards.

Coffee is also another highlight at Ponto Lounge thanks to their high quality house blend of Central American and Kenyan Arabica beans for a medium bodied, clean and fruity cup.

The Brazilian Churrascaria & Bar

4-5 Humber Dock St, Hull HU1 1TB

Located on the beautiful Hull Marina is The Brazilian Churrascaria & Bar, an authentic Brazilian Rodizio style restaurant offering Hull a unique dining experience.

Their ethos is that food should be enjoyed before it even reaches your lips, and that’s easy to see from their beautiful décor; inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s carnival atmosphere.

Churrascaria is all about succulent meat being barbecued over a charcoal fire and is why Brazil is famous for its steakhouses. The churrasco grilling tradition unleashes the quality and character of the meat and gives you the authentic taste of Brazil.

Plus there’s an unlimited hot and cold gourmet salad bar, as well as continuous table-side service of up to 15 succulent prime cuts of meat. The Brazilian also have a decent vegan selection if you’re taking your herbivore friend with you.

Their Brazilian bar is open for all, dining or not, and is full to the brim with cocktails created by award winning & world-renowned mixologist, Steve Crozier.

Karpaty Bakery & Patisserie

117 Chanterlands Ave, Hull HU5 3TG

This Leeds based bakery is already a local hit with three other shops dotted around Hull. Their fourth, and newest shop, has just opened up down Chanterlands Avenue last month and is definitely worth checking out if you love a sweet or savoury treat.

I’ve personally been a big fan of Karpaty Bakery & Patisserie ever since they opened down Newland Avenue, and now Chanterlands residents don’t have to walk all the way to Newland to try it.

This traditional patisserie bakery has all the baked good you could ask for from fresh bread to pastries to cakes.

Forrest&Co – The Punch

Queen Victoria Square, Hull HU1 3RA

After three hard months of renovation, Forrest & Co. at The Punch Hotel is open for business. The Punch Hotel in Queen Victoria Square reopened in September 2019 after being taken over by Forrest & Co who brought plans for a comprehensive makeover.

The refurb has allowed The Punch Hotel to make three outside areas, Queen Victoria Terrace, The Speakeasy and Prohibition Alley. Each outdoor area is designed to provide an immersive experience, taking you back to the pinnacle of Hull’s industrial & docking eras. If you want to know more about their refurb check out this article.

The Punch had its official grand reopening just under two weeks ago, and is currently open for drinks only in the meantime. We expect for them to be offering food during their full reopening in May – we will update this article when we know more.
