All The Upcoming Disney Plus Marvel Shows

It’s no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an absolute money-making machine. Everybody loves those movies – kids, adults, hell even my granddad likes them. Yet, the Marvel TV shows such as Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, and the infamously bad, Inhumans, often fall under the radar. There’s many reasons for this, the main problem being that they don’t impact the main story line of the cinematic universe. However the Disney Plus Marvel shows will change this stigma forever – with all shows being a direct response to the movies, with lasting impact on the future of the MCU. Most importantly, the Disney Plus Marvel shows will actually star some of the audience’s favourite characters such as Loki, Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Hawkeye, The Winter Soldier and The Falcon.

Here’s all the upcoming Disney Plus Marvel shows that have been announced so far.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Premiere Date: Late 2020
Cast: Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily Van Camp, Wyatt Russell and Daniel Brühl
Director: Kari Skogland
Head writer: Malcolm Spellman
Number of Episodes: 6

Disney/Marvel Studios

The premise for the show hasn’t been officially announced yet but we can expect a continuation of the events following Avengers: Endgame (2019). At the end of the movie, we see Chris Evens’ Steve Rogers give his shield to Anothony Mackie’s The Falcon, passing over the Captain America mantle. The show pairs Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as the title characters with  Emily Van Camp returning as Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl returning as Baron Helmt Zemo (Captain America: Civil War’s antagonist). Wyatt Russell is cast as John Walker: A militaristic successor to Captain America created by the U.S. government.

WandaVision

Premiere Date: Fall 2020
Cast: Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Kathryn Hahn, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, and Teyonah Parris.
Director: Matt Shakman
Head writer: Jac Schaeffer
Number of Episodes: 6

Disney/Marvel Studios

Like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, not much is known about WandaVision except for the fact it takes place after Avengers: Endgame. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision. The synopsis states that whilst living their ideal suburban life, Wanda and Vision begin to suspect things are not as they seem. From the teaser trailer, which aired during the Superbowl, it seems that the show takes place over different iconic sit-com decades. This alongside the fact Vision dies in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) raises the question of what the hell is happening here? We can’t wait to find out more.

The show also stars Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeu: the daughter of Maria Rambeau, who is the best friend of Carol Danvers. A younger version of the character appears in the 2019 fim Captain Marvel. Kat Dennings is also set to reprise her role of Dracy Lewis who appeared in Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013). Randall Park is also reprising his role as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).

Loki

Premiere Date: Early 2021
Cast: Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw
Director: Kate Herron
Head writer: Michael Waldron
Number of Episodes: 6

Disney/Marvel Studios

We’ve seen Tom Hiddleston’s Loki ‘die’ so many times throughout the events of the MCU, why did we think he would stay dead in Infinity War? During Avengers: Endgame, the team go back in time to the events following Avengers Assemble (2012) in which we see Loki consequently escape using the Tesseract. The show will focus on Loki using the Tesseract to travel through time and alter history. Sounds like mischief!

There’s no word on further roles, but Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw make their MCU debuts.

What If…? Season 1

Premiere Date: Mid-2021
Cast: Michael B. Jordan, Sebastian Stan, Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Hayley Atwell, Chadwick Boseman, Karen Gillan, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Neal McDonough, Dominic Cooper, Sean Gunn, Natalie Portman, Taika Waititi, Toby Jones, Djimon Hounsou, Jeff Goldblum, and Michael Rooker
Director: Bryan Andrews
Head writer: A. C. Bradley
Number of Episodes: 10

Disney/Marvel Studios

Unlike the rest of the Disney Plus Marvel shows discussed, What If…? will have no lasting impact on the further development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The animated series is based on the comic of the same name and explores what would happen if major moments from the films of the MCU occurred differently. With narration from Jeffery Wright as the Watcher and a star-studied cast of returning characters, this isn’t a Disney Plus Marvel show to miss.

Hawkeye

Premiere Date: Late 2021
Cast: Jeremy Renner
Director: TBA
Head writer: Jonathan Igla
Number of Episodes: TBA

Disney/Marvel Studios

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton passes the mantle of Hawkeye to Kate Bishop. Hailee Steinfeld is said to be in consideration to portray Bishop.

Ms. Marvel

Premiere Date: TBA
Cast: TBA
Director: TBA
Head writer: Bisha K. Ali
Number of Episodes: TBA

Disney/Marvel Studios

A series focused on Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel was announced to be in development at the 2019 D23 Expo. In 2018, Kevin Feige discussed Ms. Marvel being introduced into the MCU following the release of Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson has expressed interest in introducing Kahn into the MCU in the sequel to Captain Marvel.

Moon Knight

Premiere Date: TBA
Cast: TBA
Director: TBA
Head writer: Jeremy Slater
Number of Episodes: TBA

Disney/Marvel Studios

Moon Knight was also announced to be in development during the 2019 D23 Expo which would centre around Marc Spector / Moon Knight.

She-Hulk

Premiere Date: TBA
Cast: TBA
Director: TBA
Head writer: Jessica Gao
Number of Episodes: TBA

Disney/Marvel Studios

D23 2019 also saw the announcement of She-Hulk being in development which revolves around Bruce Banner’s cousin, who gains superpowers after receiving a blood transfusion from him.
