The Pickled Fig

Owned by husband and wife duo, Robert and Larissa Harrison, and donning a rather unusual name, The Pickled Fig is a delicatessen and fine food store with a small artisan bakery that has forged a highly-held reputation for its selection of cheeses, bread, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, and other various tasty treats.

Nightlife and hotels in Hessle

Surprisingly, there are a number of hotel options in Hessle, making this area of our city the ideal location for travelers who want the best of both worlds: a taste of the city with an option to explore our delightful East Riding countryside. However, despite this fact, to my knowledge, there is next to nothing on the nightlife front, although, that being said, Hessle is best viewed as a charming component of Hull’s suburbia unfettered by the hustle and bustle of the City Centre.

Premier Inn Hull West

The much-loved budget hotel chain Premier Inn operates a sixty-one-room venue in a beautiful Hessle location surrounded by peaceful gardens and incredible views of the River Humber as well as the Humber Bridge. At the time of writing, rooms start from £50.

Hull Humber View Hotel

Set on seventeen acres of landscaped grounds, BW Signature’s Hull Humber View Hotel affords breathtaking views of the Humber Bridge and constitutes a wonderful setting for a short break, business meeting, or wedding. At the time of writing, rooms start from £61.

Redcliffe House

A warm and restful bed and breakfast, Redcliffe House features ten lovely rooms all of which can be enjoyed with a hearty daily breakfast. At the time of writing, rooms start from £57.

The Country Park Inn

Found within the shadow of the Humber Bridge, The Country Park Inn resides in picturesque private grounds offering cosey rooms alongside luscious home-cooked food. Sadly, I can’t find the going rate of rooms at The Country Park Inn, rather, these are seemingly best sought on an individual basis.

Culture in Hessle

Hessle is bursting at the seems with culture courtesy of the Humber Bridge Country park and the Humber Bridge.

Humber Bridge Country Park

Adjacent to the River Huber and Humber Bridge, the Humber Bridge Country Park is a fourty eight acre wood with open meadows and wildlife ponds that are teeming with wildlife. Interestingly, the Park is part of the National Cycle Network and is surrounded on three sides by distinctive chalk cliffs.

Nothing less than an engineering masterpiece, the Humber Bridge spans the River Humber, connecting the East Riding of Yorkshire with North Lincolnshire thus providing a unique and effective means of transport between the two regions. Intriguingly, the Humber Bridge was the longest single-span suspension bridge until the completion of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in 1998.

Hessle benefits from an effective local transport network albeit one beset, at the moment, by a lack of investment amongst other instances of command malpractice.

Happily, the railway station itself, by way of its location of the north bank of the River Humber, offers tremendous views of the Humber Bridge! Additionally, Hessle is served by East Yorkshire’s numbers 57 and 66 buses.

Hessle profits from its proximity to the A63 which provides an effective way of road transport into and out of Hessle. What’s more, Hessle is served by a suite of taxi companies which include, but are not limited to, the following: Karens Kab; Handy Cars; Ferriby Taxis; Drive; Hull Cars.
