Bridlington Spa has announced BBC Radio 4s Any Questions? will broadcast live from the venue on Friday 28 May.
Hosted by the BBC’s Political Correspondent Chris Mason, Any Questions? has been confined to its London studios for the last 12 months, however, the show is preparing to tour the UK once again. Bridlington Spa is one of the first venues outside of the BBC to host the show for over a year.
With a weekly audience of around 1.5 million listeners, Any Questions? is broadcast live on Radio 4 on Friday evenings following the 8pm news. The programme is repeated on Saturday lunchtimes at 1.10pm, followed at 2pm by the Any Answers? phone-in which gives listeners a chance to join in the debate by calling or e-mailing host Anita Anand.
One of the stringent and unchanging rules of Any Questions? is that the panel never sees the questions in advance; the panellists hear them for the first time at the same moment the audience does.
Mark Lonsdale, General Manager, Bridlington Spa said: “I’m delighted that we can host Any Questions? joining the illustrious list of venues to have hosted the show over its 73-year history. It demonstrates the confidence the BBC has in our venue to be able to host a COVID secure event in our phased plan to reopening.
“Working with the BBC we aim to broadcast the show live with an audience in our theatre, depending on the latest COVID restrictions. Tickets will be free and available on a first-come first-served basis”.
A limited number of tickets are available from 11am on 6 May 2021 online at bridspa.com.
