Here at Hull What’s On, we’ve always thought Hull & East Yorkshire is a beautiful and vibrant place to live.

And in 2022, many local photographers have backed up our theory by capturing parts of the city, the towns, villages and the greenery that surround it.

Hull looks incredible; full of interesting and unique architecture, with brilliant local artists creating vibrant and modern art too. And when these talented local photographers were out and about with their cameras, they captured that in a way that really shows off how lucky we are to live here.

This show of Hepworth Arcade in Hull Old Town was taken by one of our favourite photographers, Colin Malin (@colin.malin.14 on Instagram). Although it’s ageing, this shot certainly captures the old glass arc roof, tiled flooring and romanesque pillars so well. We can’t wait to see what the impending refurbishment will do to bring the arcade back to life!
The bandstand and duck pond at Hull’s Pearson Park has been well captured here on one Autumn day of 2022 by Dave Wise (@hullimages on Instagram).
Bankside gallery is an ever changing outdoor gallery, full of incredible work by local artists. The ‘Lest we forget’ mural has been captured nicely, once again by Dave Wise (@hullimages on Instagram)
A stunning birds eye view of Hessle and west Hull, lit up at night, which was captured on a drone camera by Craig Marriott (@craig.marriott on Instagram)
Humber Street Sesh was back with a bang in 2022 after taking a break during COVID. This incredible show of a packed-out festival, was captured by Jason Shipley (@jason_shipley_ on Instagram)
Oh we do love to be beside the seaside! We’re so fortunate to have stunning beaches across the East Yorkshire coast. This shot of North Landing, Flamborough at dawn was captured by Chris Baitson (@chrispikz on instagram)
The jewell in Hull’s three crowns – Colin Malin (@colin.malin.14) captures the beauty of Hull Marina during a hot summer of 2022.
Here’s a beautiful shot in Hull city centre which shows the public space in between the Old English Gentleman pub (left), the old Fire Station in front of the Hull New Theatre’s new fly tower (centre) and the Hull History Centre (right) – Captured by Dave Wise (@hullimages on Instagram).
Colin Malin (@colin.malin.14) has captured this stunning show of the reeds and calmness of the river Hull during sunset.
The famous Hull Fair was back in October 2022, bringing the world’s largest touring group of fun fair rides together at Walton Street. Craig Marriott (@craig.marriott on Instagram) has captured this amazing shot from above, facing south, from the Springbank West end, looking towards Anlaby Road.
This reflective shot of the Gosschalks building from Queens Gardens in Hull City Centre, was also captured by Colin Malin (@colin.malin.14).
Back to Hull city centre, and drone pilot and photographer, Craig Marriott (@craig.marriott on Instagram) has captured this fantastic skyline view of Queen Victoria Square and surrounding streets while illuminated at night during the Christmas 2022 period.
The iconic cobbled streets of Hull’s old town have been captured here with this low-angle, reflective shot on Posterngate. Colin Malin (@colin.malin.14) has captured this and included The Kingston Hotel & Pub (left) and part of the Hull Minster (right.
