After last year’s cancellation due to severe weather, Beverley’s much-loved Christmas market is making a return this winter.
Now in its 29th year, the Beverley Festival of Christmas is recognised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council as the UK’s biggest one-day festive market. The event will take place on Sunday 14 December, running from 10am to 4pm, and will see the town centre filled with more than 120 market stalls.
This year, for the first time, visitors can explore a new area in the Georgian Quarter near North Bar, where local makers and producers will be selling their goods.
The 2024 event was called off following warnings of strong winds and heavy rain caused by Storm Darragh, but organisers are expecting this year’s celebration to be as busy as ever.
Councillor Nick Coultish, portfolio holder for culture, tourism and leisure, said the festival remains “a highlight of the year for Beverley and an important boost for local traders and businesses.” He added that visitors travel from across the country to experience the festive atmosphere, stalls, and live entertainment.
More details about entertainment, travel options, park and ride, and road closures will be released closer to the date.
