Beverley’s got a new hidden gem for anyone who loves a good cheese board and a glass of something nice. Blok & Vine is the dream project of Matt, built with help from his wife, after years of both working in the hospitality industry. He always shared a love for great food and drink, and decided it was finally time to create something of his own – inspired by their favourite kind of weekend: sharing a board of cheese and wine with the people they love.
Inside, it’s warm, cosy, and relaxed. The space has been completely transformed by friends and family who all pitched in to bring the vision to life. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy carefully sourced Yorkshire cheeses and charcuterie, paired with wine chosen to complement every bite, or just sit back with a smooth coffee.
We started things off with a couple of rich, velvety coffees and glasses of red and rosé before diving into balsamic onions, local sourdough with oil and balsamic, white anchovies with lemon, oil and caperberries, and their Ultimate BLOK sharing board.
Each board lets you choose three meats and three cheeses, served with an F. Leake’s pork pie, olives, crackers, chutneys, cornichons, and extra sourdough for good measure. Our picks were Sheffield Forge – a Yorkshire red infused with Henderson’s Relish, Ribblesdale Floral – a soft goat’s curd rolled in edible flower petals, and Baron Bigod – a creamy, raw milk brie-style cheese handmade at Fen Farm Dairy. The meats were just as impressive: Yorkshire Bresaola cured with rosemary and red wine, Yorkshire Speck smoked over oak chippings, and a fennel salami made from outdoor-bred Yorkshire pork.
We also tried a few of their sandwiches – the Ploughman’s Twist, Smokey Pastrami, and Loaded Focaccia – each one packed with local ingredients and full of flavour. During the day, they also serve breakfast bites and pastries, so you can pop in for a morning coffee just as easily as an evening glass of wine.
The menu was shaped after months of tasting and talking to local suppliers to make sure everything’s not only sourced from Yorkshire but also genuinely delicious. From artisan cheeses and cured meats to wine from Laurel Vines and beyond, Blok & Vine is a celebration of the best local produce – and they’ve made sure there are gluten-free options too.
If you’re after a laid-back spot to catch up with friends over a proper Yorkshire cheese board and a great drink, Blok & Vine is well worth a visit.
