An emergency lane closure is in place in Spring Bank West due to a burst Yorkshire Water main, following a fire last weekend.

This means that access to Princes Avenue by turning left from Spring Bank West is not possible.

A diversion route is in place whilst mains repairs and road repairs are undertaken this week.

Spokesperson from Yorkshire Water said: “There is a lane closure on Spring Bank West and the left turn from Spring Bank West onto Princes Avenue with a diversion in place while repairs are carried out to a water main damaged during the recent fire nearby. Once repaired, reinstatement of the road will be undertaken.”

Due to the construction techniques and materials required to undertake the emergency repairs, the work will be in place until Monday 24 May.

The work on site is being carried out by Morrison Water Services.

There will be days with minimum to nil personnel on site due to curing times required for the fibre enriched concrete specified for the road repairs to cure, to allow tarmacking to be completed over it.

Due to the need to plane out the tarmac to a depth of 150mm to expose the concrete sub base to allow the correct repair, the existing pedestrian crossing points across the junction of princes Avenue will be closed.

Pedestrians will be diverted 200m north to use the next available zebra crossing point on Princes Avenue situated between the junctions of Thoresby Street and Clumber Street.

Motorists are advised to plan their journey before travelling using One.Network.
