Busking in the Bar is back at Pocklington Arts Centre with the award winning venue announcing a string of free live music events featuring some of the region’s best emerging artists.

The popular events, which start again on Friday 10 December at 8pm with Lexi Rae Walker, give everyone the chance to experience fantastic live music within the comfort of PAC’s intimate and luxurious bar.

Previous Busking-In-The-Bar sessions have featured the likes of Jess Gardham, Katie Spencer, Dan Webster, Beth McCarthy, Rachel Croft, Boss Caine, Dave Keegan, Charlie Daykin and Ava Rose.

Lexi Rae Walker will kick start the new season of sessions on Friday 10 December followed by Lily Honey on Friday 28 January; Alice Simmons on Friday 25 February; and Tim O’Connor on Friday 25 March.

PAC Director Janet Farmer said: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing back Busking-in-the-Bar. What can be better than spending a Friday night enjoying a drink with friends and experiencing some free live music?

“We have some truly talented artists lined up for you so why not come along to soak up the atmosphere and discover some fantastic talent.”

Charlie Daykin, who has helped curate the winter line-up, added: “It is so exciting to see the next generation of singer songwriters performing in the intimate setting of the Arts Centre bar. Prepare to be amazed by the quality of this diverse line-up of talented musicians”.

Lexi-Rae Walker is a York based 18-year-old singer songwriter currently studying at the Access Creative College. She has recently performed on the main stage at the York Food and Drink Festival and her influences include Adele and Amy Winehouse. Lexi-Rae said: “Singing is my biggest passion and I’m pretty sure I was singing before I could even talk properly”. Lexi Rae Walker will perform live at Busking in the Bar on Friday 10 December, 8pm.

Lily Honey is a Yorkshire based singer songwriter who also plays piano and guitar. She has performed at venues such as The Fulford Arms and at festivals including Latitude, PAC’s very own Platform Festival and York Food and Drink Festival. Since the August 2020 release of her debut single ‘Leaving All My Love’, Lily has acquired extensive air play including on BBC Introducing. Lily Honey will be live at Busking in the Bar on Friday 28 January, 8pm

Being compared to London Grammar, Portishead and Florence and The Machine Alice Simmons has created a unique sound combining electric piano, heavy bass lines, delicate guitar and smoky vocals. Alice has played a number of big festivals including Latitude, Humber Street Sesh, and Beyond The Woods. Alice Simmons will play Busking in the Bar on Friday 25 February, 8pm.

Tim O’Connor is regarded as a troubadour for the 21st century with an eclectic musical melting pot of songs. His music is influenced by a myriad of musical styles woven into insightful, heartfelt contemporary yet age old sounding songs, drawing influence from The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Jonny Cash, and traditional Irish music. Tim has worked with many great musicians including the late Martin Allcock (Fairport Convention, Robert Plant, Cat Stevens). Tim O’Connor perform at Busking in the Bar on Friday 25 March, 8pm.
Free entry. Bar opens at 7pm, music from 8pm.
