Essential road repairs on Calvert Lane will begin later this month.

The work is due to start on Monday 16 May and is expected to last for eight weeks.

Calvert Lane will be closed to traffic in both directions during the work, with motorists diverted via Spring Bank, Albert Avenue and Anlaby Road.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

The work will be completed in three phases, each expected to last two to three weeks.

Access for residents will be as follows:

  • Phase 1 (North of Boundary Way): Residents of Boundary Way and south Calvert Lane to access via Anlaby Road. Others via Spring Bank.
  • Phase 2 (Boundary Way junction and south of Boundary Way): Access via Spring Bank.
  • Phase 3 (West Hull Health Hub to Anlaby Road): Access via Spring Bank.

Residents’ access may be unavailable for short periods, such as during initial planning and final surfacing of the carriageway.

The Calvert Centre and West Hull Health Hub will both be accessible throughout the works.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained and bin collections will continue as normal.

Notices will be placed at bus stops detailing how services will be affected.

Ian Cappleman, Team Leader, Major Projects and Infrastructure, said: “This vital work will ensure the highway continues to provide a safe and even surface for traffic.

“While we envisage the works will be completed within eight weeks, circumstances outside of our control, such as weather conditions and plant breakdown, could have an impact on the timescale.

“We will do all we can to ensure resident access is maintained. However, there may be times when access is prohibited for short periods of time.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank residents and motorists for their patience.”

Wright Civil Engineering Ltd will be carrying out the work on behalf of Hull City Council.
