Central area of Hull tidied up as city makeovers continue

The Central area of Hull is the latest to be tidied up as part of the Love Your Neighbourhood project.

As part of the citywide project, the Central Ward underwent a comprehensive tidy-up, between Monday 18 March and Sunday 31 March, leaving streets transformed and residents with a renewed sense of pride in their community.

Over the two-week period, the team carried out a range of clear-up tasks, including grass verge edging, grounds maintenance, and street cleaning.

The streets included were Stepney Lane, Fenchurch Street, Farringdon Street, Station Drive, Temple Street, Pendrill Street, St Hilda Street, and Exchange Street.

Residents have praised the work of the team and the difference they have seen in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.

Doug Sharp, Head of Street Cleansing and Waste Management at Hull City Council, said: “I am delighted to see such a positive transformation take place within the Central Ward. The tidy-up efforts have not only made the neighbourhood more appealing, but it has also brought the community together – with residents telling us how delighted they are with the work carried out.

“As well as caring for the environment, this project is about investing in local communities to bring them up to scratch, creating areas that people can feel proud about living in. It is very much a programme for the whole city.”

Love Your Neighbourhood is the council’s new tidy-up programme, which will tackle small areas of the city one at a time.

The team will tidy each area over a two-week period, after which residents should see a noticeable difference in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.

The Love Your Neighbourhood team will continue its journey across Hull, tackling one area after another.
