Planned industrial action by Stagecoach East Midlands drivers at the Hull bus depot is due to begin on Friday 7 October – and this will affect a number of contracted bus services in the East Riding.

The transportation team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council has been working hard to try to secure replacement bus services – for both school transport and regular public buses.

All school transport will run as normal, with regular Stagecoach services run by alternative bus companies.

However, some public services won’t be running.

From Friday, the affected timetable will be as follows, unless industrial action is resolved:

School Services

BG01 Wawne to Beverley Grammar School will be operated by Ellie Rose Travel.

7DR Sledmere to Driffield School will be operated by Acklams Coaches.

HW9 Broomfleet to Howden School, the morning journey will be operated by Thornes Independent, and the afternoon journey will be operated by Acklams Coaches.

Public Transport

180 Beverley – Castle Hill Hospital – This service will be operated by Acklams Coaches to the same route and timetable as the service provided by Stagecoach.

79/277 Hull – Hedon – Hull Circulars – This service will NOT operate. The service provided by East Yorkshire buses will operate as normal.

173 Withernsea – Hull (Saturdays only) – This service will NOT operate.

88 Bridlington Park and Ride service – The bus service will not operate. However, the council intends to run its land train service from the park and ride car park to Bridlington Spa at weekends, between 10.30am and 4pm. It will also run during the October half term unless the industrial action is resolved before then.

Councillor Claire Holmes, the council’s portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure and housing, said: “Our transportation team has worked extremely hard to secure replacement buses for our contracted services during this industrial action.

“Thankfully, all school transport will be covered. Unfortunately, there are a few public services they were unable to find cover for. We hope residents understand in these circumstances.”
