Hull’s Cineworld in Kingswood have announced a huge refurbishment is taking place this summer, installing brand new immersive auditoriums – Superscreen, 4DX and ScreenX.

The state-of-the-art refurbishment which began on 21st June will finish in 2021, unveiling the new premium formats Superscreen, 4DX and ScreenX as well as an impressive upgrade to the foyer and screens.

This is an incredible new offering to the cinema options to Hull residents with the new screens providing enhanced cinema experiences like never before.

Trailer for Cineworld Hull’s Superscreen.

Superscreen will allow customers to see the latest blockbusters on a breathtaking wall-to-wall and ceiling-high screen which is taller than a double decker bus (17m x 7.5m). The auditorium will seat 395 + 4 wheelchair spaces with laser 4K projection giving a brighter 3D experience and stunning multidimensional Dolby Atmos sound.  The Superscreen at Cineworld Hull will be Cineworld’s 18th in the UK.

4DX at Cineworld, Hull. How does it work?

Cineworld is the only cinema in the UK which offers 4DX which gives the audience the opportunity to experience the latest movies from high-tech motion seats, engineered to work in perfect synchronicity with the action on screen.

Movie fans will be surrounded by special effects such as wind, fog, lightning, snow, bubbles, water and scents. Available in both 2D and 3D formats, 4DX is one of the biggest innovations in cinematic technology.

The new 4DX auditorium will house 140 + 2 wheelchair spaces, plus an impressive curved screen. 4DX at Cineworld Hull will be Cineworld’s 33rd 4DX screen in the UK.

What is ScreenX at Cineworld Hull?

Cineworld Hull will also open the multi-projection cinema technology, ScreenX, expanding the traditional cinema screen to the side auditorium walls, creating a 270-degree viewing experience for the audience.

The innovative technology uses an array of projectors and with proprietary ScreenX software, blends multiple images into one seamless image extending from the central screen out. Strategically placed audio systems and speakers ensure that sound does not compromise the immersive viewing experience.

ScreenX at Cineworld Hull will be Cineworld’s 19th ScreenX screen in the UK.

The updated venue will also feature refurbished standard screens with new seats, premium seating, and state-of-the-art updates to the foyer and concessions stands where customers can purchase a selection of their favourite movie snacks.

These incredible new screens are set to open on 29 September alongside a new Baskin Robbins concession in the foyer. Updates to the foyer, toilets and 3 remaining standard screens will continue to happen after the cinema reopens and are expected to be completed by December.

John Jackson, General Manager of Cineworld Hull said: “We are thrilled to be refurbishing our venue, offering guests a true cinematic experience like no other. I’ve been lucky enough to try Cineworld’s 4DX and ScreenX technology already and Hull cinema lovers are going to be blown away. We’re so happy to be bringing this to our city just as more and more people are returning to cinemas with the big releases we’ve all been waiting for just around the corner. It’s a very exciting time for me and the whole team at Cineworld Hull”.

Hull’s Cineworld will receive a fresh new look in the foyer area, similar to this one from another Cineworld branch

The refurbishment comes just in time for guests to watch a number of new films on the big-screen, in particular the highly anticipated latest release in the James Bond film franchise No Time To Die which will also be showing in Superscreen, 4DX and ScreenX. Tickets for this film are on sale now.

For fans of superheroes, guests can also book soon to see Tom Hardy’s latest Spider-Man villain movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage, set to hit screens from the 15th October, and available from a low-price of only £5.99 for standard seating.

Cineworld Unlimited Card holders can also enjoy access to an unlimited number of films, for less than the price of two standard tickets, at just £9.99 per month. The Unlimited Card also allows holders to enjoy advance screenings, 10% off cinema snacks and drinks, local offers at restaurants and much more.
