Contractor appointed to install storage systems for Hull’s maritime collection

Hull City Council has today confirmed the appointment of a specialist contractor in museum storage solutions to install the storage racking and equipment to two of Hull’s maritime buildings.

Leading contractor, Bruynzeel Storage Systems Limited, will design, supply and install bespoke storage including racking, shelving and other equipment for both Dock Office Chambers and Hull Maritime Museum to store the museums’ collection, objects and artefacts in accordance with the highest professional standards.

Dock Office Chambers will become the new bespoke storage centre for the museum’s reserve collection with four floors of storage along with a conservation and research area The museum will also store objects that are not on display within the basement area in an area that will be accessible by guided tour.

Councillor Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “The city has a rich maritime collection that is designated as being of national significance.  It is only right our priceless treasures are cared for.

“We are delighted to have joined forces with Bruynzeel Storage Systems Limited to achieve the best possible storage, ensuring they remain in the best possible condition for decades to come.”

Work will start on site at Dock Office Chambers in the coming weeks.
