Hull City Council has awarded new contracts to deliver Extra Care Community Wellbeing Services, which will see adults in Hull receiving more personalised care.

The five-year contracts begin on Monday 21 November 2022, with the option to extend them for a further two periods of 12 months each.

The new contracts form part of the city’s Extra Care offer. The council runs three flagship Extra Care schemes which provide integrated intergenerational housing, care, and support. People living in Extra Care can benefit from having care and support services, whilst also being able to access community facilities and activities.

The Extra Care Wellbeing model enhances the current Extra Care model to provide people with personalised care and support, focusing on what is important to them, meeting their varying and changing care needs. This supports them to live full and independent lives for as long as possible in their own homes.

There will be a different Extra Care Wellbeing Provider for each Extra Care scheme.

The new providers will be:

  • Redwood Glades – St Annes Community Services
  • Harrison Park – Valley Care Direct Limited
  • Cecil Gardens – Creative Support Limited

Councillor Linda Chambers, portfolio holder for Adult Services said: “The provision of Wellbeing Services will allow more Hull residents to live happily, independently, and safely within their homes whilst receiving individualised care and support.

“We have worked closely with current and potential providers, including people who live within an Extra Care scheme and their families, to ensure that we have developed a service that meets their needs and aspirations.

“The council is also committed to raising the profile of a career in adult social care, and recruitment and retention of a good quality workforce, with the right ethos, values and training is crucial for sustainability. The new contracts will require all service providers to commit to these same goals.”
