Here are five must-try dog-friendly spots in East Yorkshire that are well worth knowing about if you like heading out with your four-legged mate in tow. From cosy cafés to relaxed pubs and even a city-centre hotel, these places genuinely make dogs feel part of the experience rather than an afterthought.
Lily’s Bakehouse is a warm, welcoming café run by Jules and her mum Joy, and it’s named after their gentle dog Lily – which tells you a lot about the vibe. Dogs are often dotted around under tables while owners enjoy homemade cakes, Ploughman’s platters, Scoff Scoff Biscoff pancakes and really good coffee. There are water bowls and dog treats readily available, plus a ‘dog of the month’ board with little prizes, which regulars love.
You can find Lily’s at 429 Holderness Rd, Garden Village, Hull HU8 8JN. Check out their Facebook and Instagram for opening times!
Down at Princes Quay by the marina, BrewDog Hull goes all in on being dog friendly. There’s a K9 Hydration Station, a Paws of Fame wall, and even a dedicated pup menu featuring dog-friendly ‘beer’, Punk IPA biscuits and sorbet. They also host Dog Pawties, which are small celebrations for dogs that include party hats, a personalised card and a dog-friendly ice-cream sundae, with some of the cost going to charity.
You can find Brewdog at 30G Princes Dock St, Hull HU1 2PQ. Check out their Facebook and Instagram for opening times!
If you’re planning more than a quick stop, Kingston Theatre Hotel is a great option. They offer dedicated dog-friendly rooms, complete with comfy beds and treats, so your dog is properly catered for. It’s right opposite Hull New Theatre, making it ideal for a city break, and the award-winning Clapham Restaurant inside is dog friendly too – you don’t need to be staying at the hotel to eat there.
You can find The Kingy Theatre Hotel at 1-2 Kingston Square, Hull HU2 8DA. Check out their Facebook and Instagram for opening times!
Food For Cowboys is another solid shout if you’re out with your dog. Dogs are welcome downstairs, and if that area’s busy you can head straight next door into The White Hart, which is dog friendly too. You can enjoy tacos from Food For Cowboys in either space, paired with a relaxed drink, without worrying about where your dog can sit.
You can find Food For Cowboys at 109 Alfred Gelder St, Hull HU1 1HB. Check out their Instagram for opening times!
Rounding things off is Mr Moody’s Tavern on Newland Avenue. It’s a proper local favourite with a laid-back atmosphere, and dogs are always welcome. You’ll often see them settled in while their owners enjoy a pint from the well-kept ales and rotating craft lineup. The food’s a big part of the appeal too, especially their popular Sunday roasts.
You can find Mr. Moody’s at 6 Newland Ave, Hull HU5 3AF. Check out their Facebook and Instagram for opening times!
