Christmas Markets, pub gatherings, and work do’s, there’s no sign of them this year. But one Christmas feature we can all still enjoy is having a visit to the wonderful light displays all across Hull and East Yorkshire!
If you can ignore the fact there were no great Christmas Light Switch-On events, it will almost feel normal walking around and taking in the festive displays, as we have done every year!
Cottingham
Cottingham’s festive displays were one of the first to go up in East Yorkshire this year, and all over social media there has been some fantastic photography of the stunning decorations popping up from some very talented photographers!
Beverley
Beverley has carried on with their festive traditions this year and the displays are looking magical, lights, trees and ornaments can be seen throughout the centre, lighting up the streets and shop fronts!
Hull

Sadly there will be no grand Christmas Light Switch On event in Hull this year, but the festivities are not cancelled! The iconic tree is up in Hull’s Queen Victoria Square, there are more than 45,000 Christmas lights set to light up the City Centre, and there’s even a Christmas Tree Trail organised by We Made This Hull.
There are 140 trees in 85 locations across the city (and a little beyond) which will be decorated with handmade creations by hundreds of people! The trail will cover Princes Avenue, Newland Avenue, and Pearson Park to name a few! Find out more about the trail at facebook.com/groups/807035469473119
Bridlington
Introducing ‘Streets of Light Bridlington’, Homes, businesses and schools across Bridlington and the surrounding areas have banded together for festivities this year!
From Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th December, there will be lights, decorations and crafts going up in windows across the town and villages! For more information on Streets of Light Bridlington and a list of which streets are getting involved visit facebook.com/streetsoflightbrid
Willerby

Another festive display you might want to to visit later this month is located in Willerby! The Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel has announced a brand new, covid-safe drive-thru display coming this Christmas! The attraction will be a winter wonderland, featuring light displays, elves, Mrs Claus and even the big man himself!
Tickets are quite limited now so I’d advise to book your tickets quick.
Local Street Displays

Ok, this might sound out there… going around staring at other people’s houses, but there are many estates and villages around the county encouraging families to get involved in fantastic light displays this year!
And you know what, it’s a really nice change as you can just drive around and take a look, or if you fancy a winter evening walk with the family! The kids will love it!
Just like the display pictures above from homes in East Hull by Nick and Kingswood by our head honcho, Dave, there are many communities and streets getting involved in spreading the Christmas cheer!
