Essential repairs to be performed on Hull’s Liverpool Street

Hull City Council has announced that essential works on Liverpool Street will get underway later this year, to provide much-needed improvements to the road condition.

With the carriageway on Liverpool Street – from the mini-roundabout on Hessle Road to the roundabout on Brighton Street – in a poor state, essential maintenance work needs to be carried out.

The scheme will involve resurfacing and reconstructing the road, requiring excavation up to a thickness of 900mm.

These works will address carriageway failures and ensure a safe and skid-resistant surface for road users to travel on.

The existing carriageway on Liverpool Street is in a poor state.

The works will need a full road closure. Work will start on Monday 4 September and is planned to be completed by Sunday 24 September.

A full diversion route will be in place, and residents will be informed of any disruption affecting them via a letter drop before the works. Information boards will also be placed at both ends of the road informing motorists of the closure.

Access to businesses on the East side of Liverpool Street will be maintained during the works.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Roads, and Transport, said: “Liverpool Street requires immediate attention as the carriageway is in a deteriorated state. This work will help us keep the road safe for all users.

“To carry the work out safely, there will be a road closure in place that will result in some disruption.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all road users in advance for their patience and understanding during these works.”

The work will be carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Limited on behalf of Hull City Council.
