Essential work to improve Hull’s roads will continue next week.

Work to repair poor road surfacing in Priory Road will start on Monday 2 August.

The improvement works will be carried out in two phases over the summer holiday period to ensure there is minimum disruption to residents and motorists.

Councillor Dean Kirk, portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways, said: “Schools have broken up for summer holidays, and we know that this means traffic will be lighter on the roads.

“We understand that roadworks can be frustrating for motorists, however these works are essential if we are to improve the city’s infrastructure for better and safer journeys in the future. We apologise for any inconvenience to drivers in the meantime.

“A letter drop has been issued to residents and businesses in the area, giving them the opportunity to inform the team of any special requirements so the repair work can be accommodated accordingly.

“We are grateful to residents of Priory Road and, while we understand the inconvenience, their cooperation will help to ensure that the work is completed without delay and that these essential works are completed as quickly as possible.”

Alongside this, work to improve road surfacing and reduce the number of potholes on Hull’s roads will begin next week.

A total of 64,096 square-meters of road space will be resurfaced which will require some lane closures, road closures and night working.

Advance warning signs will be in place and residents in the affected areas will be informed with letter drops.

Councillor Kirk said: “We’re also encouraging motorists to have their say on traffic and transport issues as part of our latest survey.”

The survey can be accessed on the Hull City Council website.
