Nominated for Best New Act/New Material Night in the Yorkshire Comedy Awards, Comedy Playground returns for its July installment. The city’s No. 1 new material comedy night is now on the first Sunday of the month and at the slightly earlier time of 6pm, shortly after the Sunday afternoon quiz at The Brain Jar. This night showcases the very best in local and regional, fresh and established talent.
This month’s compere is a man with the voice of an affronted Victorian gentleman, Stone Cold Rich Austin. He’s swimming across the River Humber for charity that morning (probably in a woollen bathing suit) so no doubt he’ll be banging on bout that. Fortunately he will be introducing an amazing array of comedy talent, featuring Dom Hatton-Woods, Ben Silver, Sarah Adams, Lucy Marti, Abigail Rolling and Jacob Nussey. A real classy lineup, not to be missed.
The night is hosted upstairs in Hull Old Town’s coolest bar, The Brain Jar, with regular breaks to sample the extensive and creative cocktail menu or delicious food (we love the pizzas) ???.
