We’d love it if you could join us at the Aura Innovation Centre on Thursday 8 December for the premiere of Turning The Tide, a dance-performance-film project exploring the role of women in the renewable energy and offshore wind sector.
Through an exciting partnership with the Women’s 100 Movement, the Hull chapter of the Turning the Tide film aims to challenge the traditional view of industry by making it beautiful as well as functional. Turning the Tide is about telling a better story about this new source of power on our shores – building together a more attractive narrative.
The aim: to attract more women into this new, exciting, revolutionary industry and research area and show the opportunities to engender real change. Through the medium of dance, our 15 ‘angels of the north’ express the power, beauty, strength and potential of the offshore wind industry – through movement and art. We are standing on the shoulders of those who fought so hard for equality 100 years ago. We must ensure that we continue to fight for true equality at all levels – join us and work with us to work differently, to make a change for good.
The premiere will be the first chance to see this beautiful short film, including talks on the making of the film by director, dancer and choreographer Fred Garland.
So put on your best premiere outfit and come along to the Aura Innovation Centre in Hessle on the evening of 8 December. After getting your photo taken on the red carpet, you can visit our Turning The Tide exhibition with a glass of fizz, chatting with some of the dancers and organisers, before settling down with your popcorn to watch the film and then get some behind-the-scenes insight in a Q&A.
