Want to add a little culture to your spring walk? There are lots of fantastic exhibitions that are currently going on all around Hull & East Yorkshire. There’s opportunity to admire beautiful artwork from local artists as well as the country’s most prominent art groups.
Ferens Open Exhibition
Saturday 19 February – Monday 2 May @ Ferens Art Gallery
Ferens’ Open Exhibit is a really popular local art exhibit that runs every year. There is still some time left to have a look at all of the wonderful local talent who have been sending in their work since last year!
The exhibition features more than 300 artworks including paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, textiles and film produced by amateur and professional artists, many of these artists are from the local area. Some of the artworks are for sale, giving visitors the opportunity to buy and own a unique piece of art.
Energy, Matter and the Milky Way
Saturday 12 March – Monday 2 May @ University of Hull Art Gallery
This exhibition has over fifty pieces of art that are both prints and sculptures, with inspiration from space and also a collection named ‘Artefacts with Indeterminable Functions’. The University’s gallery is open 10 am – 5 pm every day for you to explore the incredible exhibitions, and is free for everyone. All That Glisters is Not Gold
Tuesday 29 March – Sunday 22 May @ Burton Constable Hall and Gardens
Not only is this exhibition in the beautiful Elizabethan country house but it has also been organised by the one of the country’s most prominent art groups, East Riding Artists (ERA). So, you can expect great things from this collection which you can view for free every day 10am – 5pm.

Hornsea Art Society
Saturday 9 April – Saturday 12 November
This event is actually a series of workshops throughout the year, which primarily take place at the Catholic Church Hall in Hornsea but you can find the full programme online. All the artists will also get their work exhibited at the Annual Exhibition at The Masonic Hall from 26 July – 6 August. There are so many events to have a look at and enjoy!
INTER_CHANGE
Wednesday 20 April – Sunday 12 June @ Humber Street Gallery
INTER_CHANGE is a project to support people aged 18 and over in Hull and their career in the arts. A year later, all their hard work is being celebrated with a fantastic exhibition which has all sorts of artforms from painting and sculpting to spoken word and video gane design. Plus, this wide range of art is completely free to attend and you don’t have to book ahead!

Tulip Festival
Saturday 23 April – Saturday 7 May @ Burnby Hall Gardens
This annual display is back again for the spring, with an incredible 130 varieties of tulips for you to admire! The Gardens are a winner of the Yorkshire in Bloom Gold Award seven times in a row, and this particular display has been planned by the Head Gardener, Jill Ward.

Brick by Brick

Diane Patterson Wildlife Artist Exhibition

Diane Patterson is a very unique artist as not only does she paint wildlife, but she also paints on wood! This technique has created a beautiful exhibit of completely unique pieces that you are sure to love.
