A free family event to celebrate the completion of a biodiversity and park improvement project will take place next weekend.

The project, led and managed by Hull City Council, has seen Alderman Kneeshaw Park (AKP) in east Hull undergo an extensive makeover and was made possible through the UK Government’s Levelling Up Parks Fund.

The project has been completed in collaboration with the Friends of AKP to create a place for nearby residents to enjoy and to enhance pride in the local as well as encouraging visitors from further afield.

The works have created new seating areas, fragrant planting and art focal points, as well as seeing the planting of 80 large trees and the creation of meadows and flowers.

This ties in with Hull City Council’s ethos of increasing biodiversity and improving health through access to greenspaces, whilst also investing in neighbourhoods.

All are welcome to attend the event on Saturday 29 April which is being coordinated by the Friends of AKP and will include a range of activities such as crafts, art activities and workshops, a park run and interactive drumming.

Visitors can also participate in Hull City Nature Challenge 2023, tasking them to find and document nature located in the park.

Other nature and biodiversity-led engagement and activities will take place.

The event will be held from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 29 April and AKP can be found off Valiant Drive, Hull, HU9 4DZ
