Feedback wanted on Hull’s PlayZone plans

Plans for six PlayZones are taking a step forward – and now the council wants to know residents would like to see at those sites.

PlayZones are safe, inclusive and accessible outdoor facilities that aim to bring the community together through sport.

West Park, East Park, Bude Park, Alderman Kneeshaw Park, Johnny Whiteley Park and Peel Street Park have all been put forward as possible sites for a PlayZone.

These locations have been identified following previous community engagement and feedback received from the council’s Peoples Panel earlier this year.

The community can now have its say on what it would like to see at each location at a series of drop-in events starting this half-term as part the project’s second phase of engagement.

Three engagement events have been confirmed. These are:

Monday 30 October, 10am – 1:30pm, Woodford Leisure Centre, HU8 8JU

Thursday 2 November, 10:30am – 1pm, Ennerdale Leisure Centre, HU6 7DP

Thursday 2 November, 1:30-4pm, North Point Shopping Centre, HU7 4EE

The public will have the chance to talk to members of the PlayZone Programme team, who will be able to provide further information and hear directly from the public what they want to see included.

Primarily funded by the Football Foundation, PlayZones are high-quality facilities offering space for recreational physical activity across sports such as football, netball, rugby, cricket, hockey and basketball.

Cllr Pritchard, the council’s portfolio holder for culture and leisure, said: “It is pleasing that the council has been able to choose some proposed sites for the PlayZone Programme and can now engage with those communities to discover exactly what they would like.

“PlayZones are an exciting project and one that will continue to enrich our city’s parks.”
