Paragon Arcade has hit full capacity once again, with four new independents joining the creative community inside Hull’s historic Victorian arcade.
The arrivals of Swine & Soul, The Fairy Godmothers Bakes, Norma Sicilian Pasta Kitchen, and Mae Hair Room, by Ellie, add even more variety to this much-loved spot in the city centre.
Built in 1891 and restored by local developer Allenby Commercial, Paragon Arcade has become a home for some of Hull’s most exciting independent traders. From food and drink to hair and beauty, the new additions bring a fresh mix of flavours, talent, and creativity to the arcade.
Swine & Soul is a modern British restaurant with a soulful twist, led by chef Michael Barnett, who brings more than 30 years of experience to the kitchen. Expect flavour-packed dishes inspired by the American Deep South and a touch of Spanish flair, served in a relaxed setting upstairs and out on the terrace.
“It’s a really good site – the footfall down here is phenomenal, and the building is full of character,” said Michael. “It’s just a really cool place to come.”
Next door, The Fairy Godmothers Bakes is bringing some serious temptation to the arcade with handmade cakes, brownies, and sweet treats. Whether it’s a gift box to take away or something indulgent to enjoy while you wander, their bakes are already catching the eye of passers-by.
For lovers of authentic Italian food, Norma Sicilian Pasta Kitchen offers traditional Sicilian flavours made from scratch, bringing a real taste of southern Italy to Hull. It’s a perfect fit for the arcade’s growing food scene, which has become one of the city’s go-to spots for a laid-back meal with plenty of character.
Completing the mix is Mae Hair Room, by Ellie – a minimalist and welcoming salon run by stylist Ellie Longley, known for her natural colours and subtle blends. “Paragon Arcade has such a special feel to it,” said Ellie. “You can come for a day out here with everything that’s going on – great food, great shops and a really welcoming community.”
With clients travelling from across Yorkshire and beyond, Ellie’s calm, personal approach has already built a loyal following that perfectly suits the arcade’s creative feel.
Steph Ellis (pictured above), Tenant Liaison for Allenby Commercial, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see Paragon Arcade full once again. It creates such a buzz and sense of community when every unit is occupied, and the new businesses bring something fresh and exciting. Our tenants put their heart and soul into what they do, and that energy really shows.”
Together, these four new businesses bring Paragon Arcade to full capacity once again – a milestone that highlights just how much life and local pride this little corner of Hull continues to hold.
