The Festival, back for its 14th year, will take place in galleries, museums, theatres, empty shops and public spaces across Hull, presenting an exciting programme of music, performance, visual arts and talks including a number of special commissions and events.

This year’s festival, which will run from Friday 20 August to Sunday 5 September, will include circus, dance, theatre, film, audio walks and adventures, interactive digital installations, exhibitions, talks and a series of online events and content that will engage all ages.

Hull City Council is a major partner of the festival.

Councillor Rosemary Pantelakis, portfolio holder for arts and culture at Hull City Council, said: “Freedom Festival is always one of the highlights of Hull’s cultural calendar, so I’m delighted that it is returning this weekend with such a diverse, broad and exciting programme.

“Hull City Council has always supported the event, acknowledging the importance of Hull hosting such a world-class annual festival that promotes our city, and our cultural offer, on an international stage.

“Our support of Freedom Festival shows our ongoing commitment to supporting arts and culture in our city.”

The majority of the live events are free but ticketed to manage capacity and ensure the comfort and safety of the audience, staff and performers.
