Hull’s latest and eagerly anticipated visitor destination, Hammonds of Hull, opens its doors this weekend.
The historic building, built in 1916, has undergone a dramatic transformation. The ground floor is now home to an artisan food hall, featuring flavours from all over the world and a large selection of products and fresh produce, many of which are sourced locally from independent retailers.
Visitors can pick up freshly cooked pizza, work their way through cured meats and fine wines, refresh themselves at a juice bar, grab a coffee or just browse the wide selection of products and fresh produce.
Councillor Daren Hale, leader of Hull City Council, said: “This is an incredible redevelopment of one of the city’s most prominent and iconic buildings.
“The stunning food hall is home to a wide-range of brands, many of which are local to the area. Hammonds of Hull will play an important role in supporting the city’s booming and diverse independent scene.
“The Hammonds redevelopment is key to the city’s ongoing regeneration, as we bounce back from the pandemic and continue to grow our reputation as one of the country’s most exciting and unique destinations.”
Hammonds of Hull opens on Friday 3 December, with a weekend of live music curated by producer Jake Gosling who has worked with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and One Direction.
It will open from 8am until 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 12pm until 6pm on Sunday, with live performers each day.
The huge Hammonds of Hull redevelopment goes much further than just the artisan food hall.
The basement is set to be a large event space, opening in spring 2022.
The upper two floors are refurbished office space.
