Hull City Hall is Moving On Up as the voice of M People Heather Small brings her new show to the stage next spring.

The singer, who as part of M People, scored huge hits such as Moving On Up, One Night In Heaven and Search For The Hero will bring her stunning vocals to the venue on 16 April 2022.

Heather became one of the seminal British voices of the 1990s, with the band achieving massive worldwide success with the albums Bizarre Fruit, Fresco and Elegant Slumming, which won Mercury Music Prize. They also scored at the Brits scooping Best British Dance Act Award in 1994 and 1995.

Not one to rest on her laurels her two solo albums have also been huge hits and the title track of her Proud album has gone on to become the soundtrack to a whole host of very special events including London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid, the 60th anniversary of VE Day in Trafalgar Square, the launch of Queen Mary 2, the Tsunami Relief Concert, England’s victory at the Rugby World Cup celebrations, and the official ceremony marking the handover of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London.

The first lady of chat Oprah Winfrey chose Proud to sum up the work she’d achieved over her twenty-year career and invited Heather and M People across the Atlantic to perform on the show.

Since then Heather has appeared on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing,  teamed up with singing sensations Anastacia and Lulu for the critically acclaimed Here Come The Girls and embarked on a series of successful solo tours, the latest of which will certainly make Hull Proud next year.
