Horrible Histories kicks off half-term at Hull New Theatre

Hull New Theatre is kick-starting half-term with a gag-filled gallop through Britain’s nasty past with Horrible Histories –
Barmy Britain.

The show will be the second production to be held at the venue after more than a year of closure when it hits the stage from 29 – 30 May, 2021.

The fair city of Hull is of course no stranger to the gory stuff, as it locked out King Charles I at the Beverley Gate in 1642 when he wanted to get his hands on its impressive arsenal of weapons- the biggest outside of the Tower of London-no less, which sparked the civil war.

The hilarious Horrible Histories team will have lots more fantastic facts and nastiness from the past in this amazing show for everyone aged from 5 to 105. The two brilliant actors play multiple historical roles battling Boudicca, losing their heart or head to horrible Henry VIII, surviving the gunpowder plot, the dastardly Dick Turpin, Burke and Hare, and move to the groove with party Queen Victoria.

These are just some of the fascinating characters and facts audiences will discover in this incredibly funny 65 minute show, its history with the nasty bits left in.

It is part of the venue’s The Prologue Series: A Covid Safe Season. All the performances will be produced in-line with the latest Government advice to ensure the venue is Covid-safe for our valued patrons, visiting touring companies, performers and staff.

Tickets for Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain are on sale now.
