Huge Christmas street parade to launch festive season in Hull city centre

It’s that time of year again when Hull’s streets echo with the jingle of bells and the air fills with the sweet anticipation of the festive season. The Santa Arrival Parade, a cherished tradition that signals the start of Christmas in the city, is all set to enchant young and old alike on Sunday, 19th November 2023.

Hull New Theatre will stand as the starting point of a magical journey at 11:15am. The city, in partnership with Hull Bid, is rolling out the red (and green) carpet for the man in the big red suit. The streets of Hull will transform into a merry spectacle, as the parade takes a winding path through the heart of the city, bringing with it a sleigh-load of joy.

The route, meticulously planned and now revealed, promises to weave through the cityscape with a procession that will see Father Christmas himself making his merry way to Princes Quay. His arrival is more than just a nod to the start of the holiday shopping season; it’s a storied procession that officially opens the doors to his much-awaited grotto.

For those looking to join in the procession, a sprinkle of Christmas is required. Vehicles should be decked out in festive décor, and walkers are encouraged to don their finest Christmas hats or seasonal attire. Remember, while the festive spirit is all-inclusive, the role of Father Christmas is already cast, so no additional Santas, please!

Last year’s parade saw over 5,000 attendees, and this year’s event aspires to top that with an even larger turnout. The spectacle and community spirit make it a not-to-be-missed event, and there’s an open invitation to everyone in the community to contribute to the cheery atmosphere.

So, mark your calendars, share the news, and let’s make the Santa Arrival Parade 2023 a moment where Hull shines bright, kicking off the Christmas season with a heartwarming celebration that’s sure to delight.

With the countdown officially on, Hull is ready to unwrap the joy of the season. Are you?
