While most new companies start small, award-winning Hull-based Helix CMS has wasted no  time in making its mark. Established in 2020, the local Construction Management company  has been named one of Insider Media’s Top 50 Most Exciting Companies for 2023.

Helix CMS were hand-selected by a panel of experts, to feature in the fifth annual list of 50  companies under seven-years-old making an impact – celebrating the region’s multi-sector  rising stars in Yorkshire Business Insider’s January edition.

Dedicated to delivering first-class healthcare facilities, ranging from large-scale designs to  bespoke refurbishments, Helix CMS’ impressive portfolio features 13 completed major  healthcare construction projects.

These include Hull Royal Infirmary’s state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (2021) and  supporting Theatres (2022). In August 2022, the team started its biggest project to date at  Castle Hill Hospital delivering the Day Surgery Unit with the Hull University Teaching  Hospitals NHS Trust, which is nearing completion for a Spring 2023 handover.

Helix CMS is building a better future with projects that make a positive difference. Agile and  innovative, it’s showcasing what a conscious construction company looks like with local,  impactful and exciting initiatives.

Ross Bellingham, Commercial Director at Helix CMS, said: “When we established the  business in October 2020, the healthcare industry was under severe pressure. The global  pandemic and national lockdown meant it was a time of great uncertainty and there  couldn’t really have been more challenging conditions in which to launch a business.

“However, our knowledge, experience, dynamism, and determination to make a difference  in supporting the healthcare industry has enabled us to not only survive, we’ve been able to  thrive.”

People and planet are at the heart of the Helix DNA, recognised as the winner of the  Customer Focus Award at the Hull Live Business Awards 2021 and having been shortlisted  for the ‘Environmental and Sustainability Award’ in November 2022. The company is proud  to be a carbon neutral business committed to delivering carbon reduction programmes  across its operations.

Neil Sewell, CEO of Helix CMS, added: “Our goal is to be at the forefront of delivering highly  sustainable projects and we’re delighted to have played a part in not only ensuring Hull has  the best healthcare facilities in the region, but that we’re contributing to the NHS’s pledge  to become carbon neutral by 2030.”

“By thinking progressively, we’re always focusing on innovative new ways to continually  improve. To be recognised as one of Yorkshire’s Top 50 Most Exciting Companies is a  testament to our team of brilliant people behind every project that we deliver.”

“This is certainly a great way to start the new year and we’re excited to see what 2023  brings for Helix CMS.”

In addition to being one of the most exciting companies, Helix CMS were recently awarded a  place on Pagabo’s £1bn National Framework for Medium Works 23.

Phil Jessop, Operations Director at Helix CMS, said: “When you work with a procurement  partner like Pagabo, companies from across the country go through a rigorous tendering  and application process. So, to be successful is an incredible achievement.”

Aligning with Helix CMS’ company values, the Pagabo framework encourages exciting and  forward-thinking ways of working, that drives value. Using Pagabo’s unique social value tool,  Loop, will enable Helix CMS to make measurable steps and support its exciting journey to  becoming a partner of the 55 group.

Beth Bellingham, Business Development Manager at Helix CMS, added: “Measuring our  impact is the key to understanding our initiatives and the improvements we are making.”

“We’ve always utilised an internal social value report but the progressive Loop software will  enable us to calculate the social, economic and environmental impact and value of the  projects that we deliver for the Trust and beyond.”

As the team prepare to redevelop their new offices as part of their operational net zero  journey, exciting times certainly lie ahead for Helix CMS, as they continue to deliver state-of the-art healthcare construction projects with clinical precision.
