9 new films to see at Hull cinemas this April + WIN 4 tickets to Cineworld

This April, there’s a wide variety of new releases coming to the big screen, and thanks to Cineworld Cinema Hull in Kingswood, you can win a trip to see any film you want for you and your friends.

From superhero epicsĀ to World War II thrillers, all bases are covered with these cinema releases in April 2022. So scroll down to find out what’s on and find how to win tickets.

1. Morbius (released 31st March)

Jared Leto is our latest Marvel superhero in this expansion of the Sony Spider-Man Universe. Leto portrays the titular Michael Morbius, a scientist cursed with a rare blood disorder who develops the ability to transform into a vampiric anti-hero.

2. The Bad Guys (released 1st April)

Aaron Blabey’s bestselling children’s graphic novel series comes to the screen with an all-star voice cast. Sam Rockwell leads as the suave Mr. Wolf in this witty and family-friendly story of anthropomorphic animals who interact with humans. Anthony Ramos and Awkwafina also feature in the star-studded vocal line-up.

3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (released 1st April)

Sega icon prepares to run rings around his nemesis Doctor Robotnik in this sequel to the 2020 video game movie hit. Jim Carrey is back as the fiendish Robotnik, and he has enlisted Idris Elba’s Knuckles to assist him in the search for the Master Emerald.

4. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (released 8th April)

The Fantastic Beasts saga expands as we anticipate the brewing conflict between pure-bloods and muggles. We’re set to learn more about the emotional history between the titular Dumbledore (Jude Law) and his friend turned enemy, Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen).

5. The Lost City (released 13th April)

Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum play a mismatched author and an air-headed cover model on the search for hidden treasure in this madcap action-comedy. Daniel Radcliffe is the fiendish Brit baddie on their trail through the dense jungle.

6. Operation Mincemeat (released 15th April)

This fact-based World War II drama is based on a remarkable true story. When a group of Allied commanders places false papers on an anonymous dead body, they use the ruse to distract from their imminent invasion of Axis-occupied Sicily. Colin Firth leads the cast.

7. The Northman (released 15th April)

The Witch and The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers stages a bloodthirsty and spectacular adaptation of Viking myth. Alexander Skarsgard portrays the vengeful prince seeking retribution for his father’s death. Ethan Hawke, Anya-Taylor Joy, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Claes Bang and Bjork co-star.

8. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (released 22nd April)

No-one can play Nicolas Cage quite like Nicolas Cage can. So, the famously eccentric actor picks up the challenge in this surreal and meta comedy as ‘Nick Cage’ must adopt his various movie roles to save his wife and daughter from a crazed fan.

9. Downton Abbey: A New Era (released 29th April)

You are cordially invited to return to the Downton estate in this sequel to the 2019 Downton Abbey movie. All of the old favourites are back, and the story this time splits two ways: Violet Crawley’s (Maggie Smith) mysterious backstory in the south of France, and a talking pictures production that brings chaos to Lord Grantham’s (Hugh Bonneville) estate.
