This May, there’s a wide variety of new releases coming to the big screen, and thanks to Cineworld Cinema Hull in Kingswood, you can win a trip to see any film you want for you and your friends.

From superhero epics to 80s Nostalgia, all bases are covered with these cinema releases in May 2022. So scroll down to find out what’s on and find how to win tickets.

1. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (released 6th May)

New dimensions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reveal themselves in this eagerly awaited sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange.

Picking up the thread of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, the eponymous Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) must work with the conflicted Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) to restore normality to the time-space-continuum, but it’s a journey fraught with spectacular danger at every turn.

Director Sam Raimi helms his first comic book movie since 2007’s Spider-Man 3, and it’s his first step into the MCU. The movie introduces the time-hopping America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) who is poised to become a key player in the MCU as we anticipate the remainder of Phase Four and the entirety of Phase Five.

Plus, with that jaw-dropping trailer tease of a certain Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, we might be about to see an all-important X-Men puzzle piece finally click into place…

2. Firestarter (released 13th May)

The 1984 Stephen King cult classic Firestarter is re-imagined by The Vigil director Keith Thomas. Screen newcomer Ryan Kiera Armstrong replaced Drew Barrymore in the titular role of the pyrotechnically-minded young moppet whose abilities are sought by sinister government forces.

Zac Efron brings the star power as the girl’s father with backing coming from reliable horror stable Blumhouse (Get Out; Happy Death Day).

3. Father Stu (released 13th May)

Mark Wahlberg deviates from his action-man persona to star in the inspirational drama Father Stu, about a boxer turns priest who inspires those around him with his school of hard knocks story of redemption.

The movie is based on the true story of Father Stuart Long.

4. Everything Everywhere All At Once (released 13th May)

Few movies in 2022 are quite as imaginative as this multiple personality extravaganza, one that puts the terrific Michelle Yeoh (Shang-Chi) centre stage.

In Everything Everywhere All At Once, Yeoh plays a Chinese-American woman who discovers alternate versions of herself. She soon realises that she must connect the disparate forms of her personality to prevent the destruction of the entire universe – and you thought Doctor Strange was the only movie this month grappling with multiverse consequences.

Factor in the presence of Indiana Jones favourite Ke-Huy Quan and Halloween icon Jamie Lee Curtis, and it’s evident that this movie, from filmmaking collective Daniels, has all the makings of a future cult classic.

5. The Bob’s Burgers Movie (released 27th May)

The hit adult animated sitcom arrives on the big screen, as raucous, rude, unrefined and hilarious as one would expect.

Series creator Loren Bouchard co-directs, once again centering the story on the hapless Bob Belcher (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) and his dysfunctional family of misfits.

Zach Galifianakis, Kevin Kline and Stefanie Beatriz are among the heavyweight A-listers lending vocal support.

6. Top Gun: Maverick (released 27th May)

Are you feeling the need for speed yet? You certainly will when you experience the jaw-dropping cockpit cinematography on display in the long-awaited Top Gun sequel.

The original 1986 Top Gun made a star of Tom Cruise and he returns to the role of the cocksure Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. The one-time daredevil (actually, he still is one) is now tasked with training a clutch of new recruits, including Rooster (Miles Teller), the son of Maverick’s late wingman, Goose (Anthony Edwards).

Director Joseph Kosinski lines up all the bonding, technological hardware and sunset vistas that a Top Gun fan expects. And with its revolutionary in-flight cinematography, a standard widescreen presentation of Top Gun: Maverick simply won’t be enough. Watch it in either IMAX, ScreenX, 4DX or Superscreen.
