Hull’s annual Comedy Festival returns to the city centre this November for a three-week extravaganza and Yorkshire’s biggest comedy festival.
Brace yourselves, Hull! The city’s favourite comedy extravaganza is back for its 17th event and it’s going to be a three-week laughter riot brought to in collaboration with Hull What’s On
The festival hits the ground running with sensational launch events at Hull Truck and Connexin Live and an opening week takeover at Hull Truck Theatre, which has become something of a Hull Comedy Festival tradition.

This year, the theatre is pulling out all the stops with a line-up that boasts TV regulars, Gary Delaney, famous for his appearances on ‘Live at the Apollo,’ and the magical comedy of Pete Firman.
One of the opening week’s highlights is ‘Best of Ull,’ a unique show dedicated to showcasing some of Hull’s multi-award-winning comedy talent.
After warming up at Hull Truck Theatre, the festival will include Friday and Saturday nights at Hulls only comedy club, the comedy lounge and brings the Hullarious Fringe to the Fruit Market.
This phase features an eclectic blend of comedy genres, from stand-up and variety shows to touring acts and works-in-progress. The line-up promises to shine the spotlight on local and regional talents, a sprinkle of award-winning performances, and even some of the hottest acts from the UK festival scene.
On Sunday, 5th November, Bella Humphries will take the stage with her reflective work in progress comedy show followed by the “Hullarious: Hull Comedians Showcase,” both at 1-2 Pier Street.
Hull’s New Comedian of the Year 2022, Jack McLean, also makes his return with “Soft Sod” on Thursday, 9th November, which sold out quickly and now also has an earlier showing

The festival even extends its reach beyond traditional venues, with unique shows like “Oh My Dog Comedy,” which welcomes not only comedy fans but also their four-legged pals.
“It’s a real joy for Hull What’s On to be involved in an event that spreads so much happiness, laughter and opportunity to see a wide variety of comedy styles on your doorstep” says Dave Bushnell, Founder & MD of Hull What’s On.
“We’re all about championing the amazing culture here in Hull, and this festival is a crown jewel in the city’s entertainment scene.”
The grand finale of this year’s festival will be on Sunday, 19th November with the “Hull What’s On Comedian of the Year Final.” This night will crown Hull’s top comic of 2023, wrapping up a nearly month-long celebration of comedy.
