Local residents and community groups can now bid for grants to tackle crime within their neighbourhoods. Hull City Council’s new £250,000 Crime Prevention Fund – which was announced last month – is now taking applications. The application process is online and is open to any groups of local residents seeking funding for crime reduction projects.

Successful submissions could include ideas intended to reduce the likelihood of people getting involved in crime protect communities from crime with extra lighting or gating, or improvements to local facilities.

Cllr Rob Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Crime Prevention and Culture, said: “Residents regularly tell us that crime and anti-social behaviour are amongst their top concerns, and we are listening. Now that our new Crime Prevention Fund is officially open for business, local groups can seek funding for work to make their communities safer.

“The application process can be completed entirely online and is now open. Funding will be awarded in monthly waves, starting next month.

“The work made possible by the Crime Prevention Fund will make a genuine difference to our local communities. When crime is reduced, neighbourhoods and public spaces are safer, cleaner, more inclusive and pleasant for everyone.

“The time is now to make an application and make a real difference for local people”.
