The best events happening around Hull this August

Events are back and Hull’s biggest and best venues are putting on an absolute show this month. From live music to stand-up comedy, theatre to food & drink festivals, there’s something for everyone this August.

Why not rock out at The New Adelphi Club for some amazing live music? Or there’s the amazing Hull Brickfest which celebrates all things Lego. Plus there’s a couple of amazing food & drink festivals happening in the city centre and East Park. Check out our top picks for events in Hull this month…

1. Kingmaker 4AD (30th anniversary)

28th August 2021 (starts at 8pm)

“On a hot night in August 1991, a week after having graced the main stage at the Reading Festival for the first time Kingmaker played to a rammed, over-capacity crowd at their spiritual home, the Adelphi. Thirty years later, almost to the day, Kingmaker 4AD will be back at the Adelphi playing all the tracks from Eat Yourself Whole in full, plus a few extras!”

Any fans of Indie will not want to miss this anniversary gig from one of Hull’s own indie bands, King Maker. Grab a ticket here and make sure you’re ready for an amazing gig.

2. Battalions + Regulus + Irontooth

25th August 2021 (Starts at 7pm)

“Tired Bear Booking and Promotions presents: Battalions Regulus + Irontooth

Fans of the really heavy genres of metal are definitely going to enjoy this gig, all three bands put some serious volume and riffs so you don’t want to miss it. Grab a ticket here.

3. MING CITY ROCKERS + Supports

26th August 2021 (Starts at 7pm)

“We are stoked to welcome back garage punk band, and local legends MING CITY ROCKERS to slay The New Adelphi in Hull once again.

“When they hit it, the hit it at The Adelphi so get your tickets sooner rather than later as this is already looking like another sell out (it has been quite a while since they played Hull), such is the interest.”

Local punk fans are going to be really excited about this gig, all three bands are well worth the money to go see live and they will not disappoint in any way at all, grab a ticket here for this killer show.

4. Saber Cruzer + Bella Ciao

18th August 2021 (Starts at 8pm)

Saber Cruzer: Hull, East Yorkshire, England, Saber Cruzer take you on a ride through tone driven deserts and melodic sky’s. Formed in 2020 and having already released three singles, Saber Cruzer are a trio consisting of Alex Czapla, Bobbie Bell and Jack Brown. Soundsphere Magazine says – ‘We are big, big fans.’

Bella Ciao: Forged from previous members of Ming City Rockers, Baby Tooth and Psycle, debuted in June 2021, Bella Ciao are a grunge rock band based in Yorkshire.”

This Hull indie mega gig is going to be unmissable for anyone who loves indie music and local bands, grab a ticket here for this awesome event.

5. The New Republic + The Borders + Nicole Fewster

5th August 2021 (Starts at 8pm)

“Punchy riffs. Groovy licks. And bags of infectious energy. The New Republic welcome a breath of fresh air to the indie rock scene with one goal in mind – to get people dancing.

“Stemming from East Yorkshire, with a strong fanbase in the Birmingham region, the band combines the funky backbone of the Red Hot Chili Peppers with crisp, catch melodies reminiscent of The Strokes and Foals.”

Bands supporting are The Borders and Nicole Fewster.

6. Revive Live – Ren Harvieu

24th August 2021 (starts at 8pm)

7. Black Kes + Chubby Mam + The Plastic Son

6th August 2021 (starts at 8pm)

“Adelphi Fundraiser £6.00 Tickets. Black Kes + Chubby Mam + The Plastic Son

“Black Kes: A progressive skiffle band from the City of Culture 2017.

”Chubby mam: Chubby Mam are the greatest supergroup ever to come out of the Adelphi car park”.

These guys are all joining together to help raise funds for the Adelphi, in what looks like an amazing gig line up, If you’re looking for some shenanigans all in the name of a good cause, grab a ticket for this great event here.

8. Hull Minster Beer Festival

13th – 14th August 2021 (starts at 12pm mid day)

“This Summer Hull Minster will once again play host to a major Hull Beer Festival. We’ve lined up a cast of local breweries and made space for some local musical talent, with food provided by vendors from neighbouring Trinity Market.

Local favourites such as Atom Beers, Bone Machine, Great Newsome and many more are already confirmed, and entertainment will be provided by a host of local bands and artists, including the likes of Ramble Gamble, The Nocturnal Flowers, and Dogfinger Steve. This is just a small selection of the breweries and bands lined up for the event, which promises to showcase much of what Hull’s beer and music scenes have to offer.”

9. East Park Feastival

21st – 22nd August 2021 (starts at 1pm)

“Sample the delights of a wide range of local and regional food stalls and licenced bars. Entertainment includes live bands, acoustic acts and family comedy. Hosted by Hull’s own Andy Train. Food stalls and entertainment acts will be announced shortly.”

This is an 100% unmissable event for you and the family… if you want to enjoy yourself in East Park whilst having a walk, listening to some good music and sampling some even better cuisine, grab a ticket here.

10. RUM & REGGAE FESTIVAL // HULL // August Bank Holiday Weekend!

28th August 2021 (Starts at 3pm)

“12 Hours of Caribbean Music, Food and Dancing. Plus over 100 rums on offer. All set in the Tropically decorated garden of The Old School House & Courtyard with entertainment and talent from John Peters at Funky Worm Hole.”

If you’re a fan of Caribbean music, food, drink and culture… you will not want to pass up the chance to get a ticket for this event that sees The Old School House and Courtyard turn into a Rum and Reggae filled paradise.

11. Hull Brickfest LEGO Fan Event 2021

7th – 8th August 2021 (starts at 11am)

“Brickfest – LEGO Fan Event is returning for the 6th show in Hull and this time it’s in town for the whole weekend!

Awesome LEGO creations from the best builders in the UK, fun activities plus several specialist LEGO traders with everything from bargain new sets, vintage sets, loose bricks and custom accessories.”

12. Tower Tours

4th – 6th August 2021 (starts at 2pm)

“See a panoramic view of Kingston-upon-Hull from the highest point in the city with public access. Learn about the Bells of the Minster and see the clock mechanism in action as our tour guides take you up the 180 steps to the ringing chamber and then the top of the tower itself for an unparalleled vantage point across the East Yorkshire Wolds, the Humber estuary, Holderness area and north to Beverley.”

“From 20th May we will be taking parties of 6 people up to the top of the Minster tower to get the unique view of the city and surround areas.”

13. Trinity Laughs

6th August 2021 (starts at 6pm)

“Every first Friday of the month, Hull Trinity Market will play host to some of the region’s finest comedians. Building on the success of the first Trinity Laughs event in 2020, Hull Trinity Market, in association with Vittles & Company, are aiming to put themselves firmly on the Hull comedy map.”

“Food and Drink are available from Trinity Market’s resident vendors, including Craft Beer and a wide range of other drinks from organisers Vittles & Company.”

14. Horrible Stunts for Kids

8th August 2021 (starts at 12pm)

This is going to be a fun packed interactive Sunday show filled with hilarious stunts and comedy for all the family to laugh at and enjoy.
