A guided bike ride around Hull’s iconic sites took place last week in a bid to encourage cycling in the city.

R-evolution, the cycling charity that operates the cycle hubs in Trinity Market and The University of Hull are offering guided cycle tours in partnership with First Step Sports for people to explore Hull on a bike.

Caitlynne Picot said: “Hull is a flat city that is perfect for cycling.”

Caitlynne took part in the bike ride and was able to visit parts of the city that were easily accessible by foot or bike including Murdoch’s Connection, Old Town, The Deep, Hull Marina and Humber Street.

She said: “There were so many sights to see along the way, and I particularly enjoyed the view of the River Humber and the TransPennine cycle route.

“The tour started at the Trinity Market and took us over the new footbridge which led us through the Marina and Humber Street, before heading onto The Deep. We then followed the cycle route along the River Humber. From there we covered parts of the Transpennine Trail including Route 66 and Route 65.”

The tour started at the R-evolution cycle hub based in Trinity Market, Hull.

The tours last for an hour and a half and include a stop at a local café. The route takes cyclists along Posterngate, from Dagger Lane to Princes Dock Street, Murdoch’s Connection over Castle Street, parts of the route to the Ferry Terminal, along Victoria Dock and around the Siemens wind turbine blade factory. The tour also took in parts of the new cycle lane in Holderness Road, Witham, North Bridge and Freetown Way,

Caitlynne added: “The ride experience was pleasant and easy enough for all abilities. The terrain was smooth and flat, a welcomed advantage for new beginners!”

The next guided ride will take place on Thursday 9 June, 5.30pm – 8pm from Trinity Market.
