The audience may have to keep their distance a little longer, but live entertainment continues at Hull New Theatre.

The venue’s Prologue Series, which has been specially created to take into account COVID safety guidance, was successfully launched last month, ahead of the Government’s latest announcement to keep restrictions in place until 19 July.

It means shows like this weekend’s LOL Comedy Club with its top class comedians including Steve Sanyasi, Rob Rouse, Freddie Farrell, and Jed Salisbury can go ahead on Friday 18 June.

While the world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra can return on Saturday 19 June with two performances (10.30am and 2.30pm) of the stunning family concert Heroes & Villains, which will see audience members create a new piece of music by the end of the show and all are encouraged to don fancy dress alongside the musicians.

And former SIX! The Musical queen Christina Modestou, to showcase her incredible vocal talents in A Night at The Musicals on Friday 2 July.

Not content with one of the original queens, the venue will host the new royals when Six! The Musical take up residency from 20 – 25 July, closely followed by the magnificent monsters of Dragons And Mythical Beasts who will come to life from 30 July – 1 August

As autumn approaches, the amazing shows continue with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s critically acclaimed School of Rock kicking off its first ever UK tour in Hull from 7 -18 September and in another ‘first’, the inaugural tour of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be at the venue 29 November to 4 December.

Janice Wincott, Theatres and Halls Manager for Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “We continue our commitment to host world class performances within a Covid-compliant environment and would like to reassure our valued customers that the shows will go on in line with government guidance.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone during these challenging times and are very much looking forward to continuing to welcome audiences to this prestigious venue.”

All the performances will be produced in-line with the latest Government advice to ensure the venue is Covid-safe for our valued patrons, visiting touring companies, performers and staff.

As the autumn season unfolds blockbusters Chicago (8 -13 November) and Rocky Horror (22-27 November), will return to the venue while the long awaited appearance of Derren Brown (21-25 September) and Dirty Dancing (19-23 October) will now go ahead after waiting patiently in the wings during the Covid pandemic.

The new season also boasts some great family favourites like The Tiger Who Came To Tea, (9-10 October) Northern Ballet: Merlin (12-16 October)  and of course the ever-popular pantomime which this year sees the welcome return of loveable rogue Neil Hurst in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (11 December – 2 January).

The venue is also looking forward to a terrific 2022 with more fantastic shows including Waitress (31 January – 5 February, 2022) the return of the irresistible Jersey Boys (17-28 May, 2022), and the long awaited Les Miserables (15 June – 9 July, 2022).
