The incredible Hull photographers capturing our city in a new light

Many of us have known for some time that Hull is a unique and beautiful city, but you really don’t have to just take our word for it.

The evidence is all here thanks to the many talented and visionary photographers in the city who just love to capture Hull in a way you haven’t seen before. From photos high above, or at our feet, Hull looks incredible in these photos from amazing Hull photographers.

Colin Malin

Unlike other photographers, Colin Malin captures all his beautiful photos of Hull and East Yorkshire on his mobile phone! He has some incredible pictures that capture some of Hull’s beautiful architecture and scenery, which you can see on his Instagram account.

Craig Marriott

Craig Marriott is a Hull photographer and filmmaker, who also has an interest in piloting. This is why he uses drones for his work. Craig seems to catch the perfect moment and setting on camera, capturing Hull’s most picturesque spots. You can see more of his photos on his Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Neil Richard Cook

Neil Richard Cook is also set apart from traditional photography by only using his mobile phone and the free filters available. Despite his humble toolkit, Cook has captured some fantastic and imaginative interpretations of Hull. You can see more of his work on his Facebook account.

Jack Gray

Whilst his work covers a wide range of cities and sites in the UK, Jack Gray is a commercial and wedding photographer based in Hull. You will find lots of beautiful photos of the city in his portfolio, which you can find on his website as well as his Instagram account.

Jennifer Cunningham

Jennifer Cunningham discovered her passion for photography by walking through Hull. This inspired her to buy her first camera and make some hauntingly beautiful photos of the city. Now, she has her own newborn and children’s photography company, Olive and Grace Photography.

Tom Smith

As an architect, Tom Smith is no stranger to the wonderful sites and buildings we have here in Hull. You can find more of his work on his Instagram account, where he shows off some of Hull’s most interesting sights, as well as some 3D printing of intricate landscapes.

Lee Karen Stow

Lee Karen Stow is a documentary and feild researcher photographer whose work focuses on women’s issues. As well as her documentation of Chernobyl and Hiroshima, Stow was also born and raised in Hull and has taken photos of some of the more social and political events in Hull, as you can see on her Instagram account and website.

Humber Bridge Photography Competition 2021

One of the most defining destinations in Hull has to be the Humber Bridge, so it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most photographed areas. Humber Bridge set up a photography competition in 2018 and because of its popularity, they’ve decided to revive it for 2021.

Each month there is an individual winner based on a theme. The two most recent winners are (as pictured) is June’s winner, Jennie Cole, with the theme of family, and Ian Lee, the winner of July, who took this picture when the bridge was being built. All of the winners will be added to a shortlist for the overall winner, who will be decided in December. You can look at all of the winners’ photos here.
