August might just be the start of something special. In early July, the UK Government announced a new discount scheme to support the restaurant industry in getting back on it’s feet following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Cleverly titled ‘Eat Out to Help Out’, it provides every diner with a pretty generous 50% discount on food and soft drinks, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout August. But rather than the restaurants taking a hit on the discount, the government will pay the discounted 50% back to the restaurant so they don’t lose out. Clever hey?
