The iconic American TV series Sesame Street is coming to Humber Street this summer with a Hull twist.

From Wednesday 29 June, Humber Street Gallery, run by Absolutely Cultured, will present contemporary artist Harold Offeh’s new exhibition, Hull Television Workshop.

Influenced by Sesame Workshop (SW), the American non-profit organisation that produced Sesame Street, Offeh will facilitate workshops with Hull community groups to co-create Hull Television Workshop episodes.

Each episode’s focus will be led by people in Hull, for people in Hull. Hull Television Workshop will screen a variety of programmes, such as animations, talk shows, documentaries and music shows.

The exhibition will take place at Humber Street Gallery in Space 2, which will be transformed into part TV studio, editing suite, and production space.

Humber Street Gallery has also announced 2022-23 INTER_CHANGE talent development programme, a new opportunity for local emerging artists.

INTER_CHANGE is a free year-long initiative which will support local creatives at the start of their careers. A core cohort of up to 12 will be selected to participate in a 12-month professional development programme, which will culminate in a final exhibition and/or public events programme at Humber Street Gallery in Autumn 2023.

An informal associate group of 15 to 20 creative practitioners will also be supported and invited to participate in any broader developmental INTER_CHANGE activities and events.

It is aimed at people aged 18 and over, living primarily in Hull and surrounding areas, who are at the beginning of a career in visual or performing arts and looking for professional guidance.
