Hull’s eco-friendly shops doing their bit for the environment

In a time when we’re more aware of climate change and our impact on the environment, it can feel like we’re not doing enough. Never fear, these shops in Hull are doing their bit for the environment and in supporting them, we are making a huge contribution too!

Ethical House

Trinity Market, Hull HU1 2JH

Another shop at Trinity Market, Ethical House specialises in vegan, cruelty free and eco-friendly cosmetics. They stock a wide range of brands, such as Terre Verdi and Simple Serenity, but absolutely all of them are ethical with recyclable packaging. Their natural products are not only good for you but also for the environment!

The Refill Jar

The Refill Jar in Beverley is a zero waste, family-run shop that advocates for plastic free shopping. They are a really unique business in which they do not use packaging but allow you to self-dispense and refill food, liquids and toilitries, instead of using single-use plastic!

They also have an online shop.

Bio-D

One of the most difficult eco-friendly products to get are cleaning products, but Bio-D has a wide range of cruelty free, vegan and environmentally friendly cleaning supplies! From their fabric conditioner to hand soap, all their products use natural, plant-based ingredients. Plus, they even come in bottles made from 100% recycled plastic!

They make all of their products right here in Hull and you can shop online on their website.

Samsara & Co

West Arcade Princes Quay HU1 2PQ

Samsara & Co is a small business which sells unusal, fair trade gifts, which are often handmade from natural and sustainable materials. They sell some really unique gifts, from their woodwork home decor to the natural candles, there’s something for everyone.

Grain Wholefood

If you fancy changing your diet (whether going full vegan or just having a meat-free meal a week), have a look at Grain Wholefoods. They offer natural, organic, vegan food with a huge range of options that will taste great and still make a huge contribution to the planet!

An independent and family-owned gift shop, Near and Fair is a completely fair trade business that sells sustainable and ethically-sourced products. There are lots of different things available, such as clothing, unique gifts, and even ethical teas, coffees and chocolates!
