Absolutely Cultured is presenting two evenings of dance, in partnership with the University of Hull, taking place on 25 and 26 November.

The event is part of a series of pilots over the next year, which aim to offer more opportunities to experience dance and physical performance in Hull.

Acting as a double bill, each evening features two shows, Triptych by Hull-based artist Kristin McGuire and Unbroken by Nikki Rummer, one half of duo Nikki & JD.

Lindsay Stockley, head of creative programmes for Absolutely Cultured, said: “We are thrilled to be contributing to the development of dance in Hull by bringing a collection of exciting dance and circus shows to the city.

“Working in partnership with other local organisations, the programme will also provide additional opportunities for the local dance sector including networking opportunities and dance workshops from the visiting artists.”

Triptych is a series of three short choreographies that explore pole dance as an art form. The piece is performed by Kristin McGuire whose professional dance career spans more than 20 years of performing and choreographing for an eclectic range of international dance and theatre companies, including Cirque du Soleil and Mark Bruce Company.

Unbroken is the debut solo performance by physical theatre and circus artist, Nikki Rummer, on tour in autumn 2021 and spring 2022. Combining her talent for storytelling and her unique movement language inspired by her acrobatics, gymnastics and capoeira practice, Rummer tells a very personal story with universal resonance.

An evening of physical performance with Kristin McGuire and Nikki Rummer will take place at The Donald Roy Theatre, The Gulbenkian Centre, The University of Hull on 25 and 26 November. Doors will open at 7pm.

General admission is £8, with concession tickets available at £5 for students and over 65s.
