On Sunday 23 January, the show will include newly created pieces of work by Max Life Dance Company, Ainthorpe Youth Centre, Pragnya Arts Centre, Ganton School and East Riding Youth Dance Company as well as the first performance of a dance piece created during the day with JoinedUp dance artist Effie McGuire Ward.

Groups from across Hull and East Riding will share a diversity of performances including contemporary dance, street dance and bharatanatya.

Ruth Drake, Hull City Council’s Arts Development Officer, said: “The young people involved all enjoy dancing and are at difference stages in their dance journey.

“By taking part in Creative Voice Dance they are sharing that the future of dance in our city and region, as well as supporting their own individual development and progression. They are also part of an inclusive experience.”

Creative Voice Dance, part of Hull City Council’s youth arts initiative, gives them a platform to show off their talents both in Hull and then later, as part of the regional event “Fresh” which features performances from companies across Yorkshire at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds in April.

During the evening, a new exciting inclusive and accessible, city-wide programme will be launched, with workshops and films from Hull Dance and Tin Arts Dance Company shown for the first time,

  • MOVE MORE – chances to increase commitment, develop skill level and up the intensity
  • MOVE ON – for those considering a career in dance or who want to find out just what they are capable of in dance, help to make that next step in a dance training and information about careers in dance

Keyna Paul, Artistic Director, Hull Dance said. “The Creative Voice Platform is a key event for young dancers in the city, somewhere they can share their work and joy of dancing. We are very excited that we can be a partner this year and launch the groundbreaking ‘Move Together’ programme.”

The Creative Voice Dance Platform takes place Sunday 23 January, 6.30pm. Tickets are £3 and can purchased from Hull City Council Box Office 01482 300 306, in person at the City Hall Box Office or online.
