Major Hull bus network revamp to give more cross-city connections

Bus company East Yorkshire has announced that from 5 September bus services in Hull will be improved to give more connections between the two sides of the city.

The new improved Service 56 will run between Wymersley Road/Wold Road, MKM Stadium, Hull Royal Infirmary and Hull City Centre to Holderness Road, giving East Hull residents a direct bus to the stadium and the hospital, and giving people more opportunities to travel across the city.

Those who live in Willerby will have an improved service to the city centre, with new Service 54 providing buses every 15 minutes to Hull City Centre, replacing the current complicated services that run in that area.

There’ll be extra night buses on Services 104/154, giving better evening links between Hull City Centre, The Avenues, Cottingham, Castle Hill Hospital and Anlaby Road.

Many other services in and around Hull will also have changes to times, helping keep buses on time in busy traffic.

East Yorkshire’s Area Director, Ben Gilligan, said the new services would make buses a more attractive offer in the city.  “At the moment, a lot of people in East Hull need to catch two buses to get to the hospital or the stadium,” he said.  “With our new cross-city service, they can get one bus straight there, making it much easier to travel.”

“Public transport plays a huge part in keeping our city’s air clean and our roads clear of traffic, so it’s something we should all support.  Next time you need to travel in the city, ask yourself whether you can hop on the bus rather than automatically jumping in the car, and you might be surprised at how easy it is.”

Details of all the new times and services can be viewed at eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk, and the company will also be giving out copies of their new timetables in Hull’s Queen Victoria Square on Wednesday 8 & Saturday 11 September.
