Fun things to do with the kids around Hull this May half-term

The school bell rings this Friday, 26th May, ushering in a week of half-term fun in Hull and its surroundings. To top it all off, we get to enjoy a bank holiday on Monday too, (29th May!)

So our friends at Hull & East Riding Mumbler have provided us with a list of events and things to do, helping us to piece together this guide to show you an array of activities and events, so you and your family can make the most of this time off.

Beverley Racecourse Family Raceday

On May 31st, take your kids to Beverley Racecourse for an unforgettable Family Raceday experience. As part of the Hull FC Rugby League Takeover, the first race begins at 1.25 pm. The best part is that under-18s go free, making it an affordable and entertaining day out for the family.

Woldies Lavender and Nature Farm

An hour’s drive from Hull towards Malton, Woldies Lavender and Nature Farm is hosting their Queen Bee Quest across the half term. This engaging and educational experience will ensure that the kids have a fun-filled day out surrounded by nature.

Lost City Adventure Golf

For an interactive experience, visit Beetle Bank Farm near York. They offer a range of extra activities all week, such as inflatable games, meeting owls, and fun exercises hosted by Rugby Tots.

Castle Howard

Let the kids explore their creative side with crafting sessions at Castle Howard. Activities include Pirate crafts and a Camp Wilderness day on May 29th.

Sewerby Hall Spring Spectacular

Sewerby Hall offers a variety of events and activities throughout the week as part of their Spring Spectacular. From treasure hunts to mini-beast safaris, there’s something for every child.

Tour and Farm Visit at Sledmere

If your children love animals, a visit to Sledmere is a must. You can take a tour of the house and visit the Rare Breeds Farm to meet a variety of baby animals.

Stockeld Park Swashbuckling Pirate Adventure

This half term, Stockeld Park is hosting a Swashbuckling Pirate Adventure. Come dressed as pirates and enjoy a day full of exciting activities.

Whitby Abbey Time Travel

From May 27th to June 4th, Whitby Abbey offers a unique opportunity to travel back in time and meet characters from the past. It’s an engaging and informative experience for kids and adults alike.

Williams Den Inflatable Assault Course

For a day of fun and adrenaline, head to Williams Den. This half term, they’ve set up a giant 175m inflatable assault course that is bound to keep the kids entertained.

Free Superhero Party at Fruit Market Hull

On May 31st, Fruit Market Hull is hosting a free Superhero Party. Dress your children in their favourite superhero costumes and let them enjoy a day full of fun and games.

Crafty Cat Workshops

Crafty Cat in Anlaby offers a variety of craft workshops for all ages, from 2 years to 8+ throughout the week. Their Little Kitties play cafe is also open daily for 0-5s, while the main cafe is open for all ages.

Immerse your kids in art and history at Hull Museums and Feren’s Art Gallery. The Discover Ancient Egypt exhibition is open until June 18th, offering an engaging and educational experience.

Flemingate Pop-up Roller Rink

Let the kids roll into fun at the Flemingate pop-up roller rink, open from May 30th to June 3rd, 10am-4pm. It’s only £6 for a 1-hour skating session.

Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre

This May half-term, Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre near Doncaster is opening their aquapark. They also offer paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing.

Superhero Sleepover Academy at Hampton by Hilton

End the half term on a high note with a Superhero Sleepover Academy at the Hampton by Hilton hotel at Humberside Airport, scheduled for June 3rd.

Hull Truck Theatre’s Great Adventures: Three Little Pigs

This half term, the Hull Truck Theatre has a show especially aimed at children aged 3-6 years. Tickets for Great Adventures: Three Little Pigs are just £6 for a child and accompanying adult.

Free Super Hero Party at Fruit Market Hull

Children love superheroes, and what could be more exciting than a free Super Hero Party? On May 31st, Fruit Market Hull is hosting this event where children can dress up as their favourite superheroes and participate in a variety of fun activities. Whether it’s dancing, playing games, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, the superhero party is bound to be a hit.

East Riding Libraries: Special Storytimes and Bounce & Rhyme sessions

In association with the renowned author Julia Donaldson and the new Elmer book, East Riding Libraries are running special Storytimes and Bounce & Rhyme sessions for children aged 0-4. These free-to-attend sessions are a great way to introduce young children to the joy of books and reading, and to nurture their creativity and imagination.

Active Coast: Beach Activities and Humber Bridge Country Park

Fit4Fun Multi-Active Camps

Fit4Fun is back at South Hunsley school this half term with their exciting multi-active camps. Suitable for kids aged 5-12 years, the camps run from 8.30 am to 5 pm on the 30th and 31st May, and 1st June. If you’re looking for flexibility, there are also half-day options available. The camps offer a range of activities to keep your kids engaged and active throughout the day.

Soccer Kings Football Camps

For young football enthusiasts aged 4-13, Soccer Kings are running football camps from the 30th May to 2nd June at their indoor soccer centre on Sutton Fields, Hull. Along with structured coaching, the camp also includes ‘pay and play’ options. For just £5 per person, you can hire a pitch for a friendly kick-around game.

Active+ Sports Camps and Little Monkeys Play

Active+ on National Avenue, Hull, is offering a variety of Sports Camps and Little Monkeys play sessions from 30th May to 1st June. The camp runs from 10 am to 3 pm, with an early drop-off option at 8.30 am. It’s a great way for kids to try new sports, improve their skills, and make new friends.

Bright Beginnings Holiday Club

Located in Kirkella, Bright Beginnings provides a holiday club open daily for children aged 3-11. With a range of educational and recreational activities on offer, this club is an ideal option to keep your kids engaged and entertained throughout the day.

Hessle Soccer Camp

The Hessle Soccer Camp is returning on the Recca in Hessle for two days this half term. The camp runs from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm on the 31st May and 1st June. It offers a fantastic opportunity for kids to develop their soccer skills while having fun and making new friends.
